There are loads of things that annoy me. Noise, either from kitchen, staff or background music, this should be almost inaudible. Poor service, over attentive service. Dirty cutlery/crockery/table linen. Poor washroom facilities, this always makes me wonder what the kitchen is like. Poor lighting. Fake flowers, if you can't put a cheap spray carnation in a bud vase then don't put in a smelly, dusty silk flower it screams at me cheap and nasty. Cold food when it is meant to be hot and vice versa, hot food cold plates, cold food hot plates, Frozen veg. Being rushed, if you are that busy then provide an area where people can relax after their meal and spend more money drinking. Over priced house wine, no water, how many times I have asked for a carafe of water and it never arrives even after asking several times. I am often the designated driver and I don't like cordials or fizzy drinks (other than champagne)so water is my option. More often than not I have to buy bottled which is a pain in the neck when all I want is a good old glass of iced tap water. You guessed it I am the customer from hell!!! Do I complain? Yes I jolly well do, life may be too short to stuff a mushroom but it is also too short to eat a bad meal and have to pay for the priviledge.

could not agree more on the smoking issue, vile habit. i had a lovely meal recently at a restaurant in a truly beautiful setting and my only gripe was the number of people smoking around the entrance....it was like going through the doors on 'stars in their eyes' i tell you.... it always amuses me.....you know that look you get from the staff when you dare to ask for *gasp* tap water rather than the overpriced bottled stuff....i almost feel the need to apologise....well, almost
cigarette smoke...when they do your order wrong...problems with food...FILTHY TOILETS (big hate!) and probably the one that i hate the most is when they charge outrageous prices for tap water just because it has a drop of cordial in....

Absolutely anything pertaining to janet street porker.
When the waiting staff don't know what is on the menu. For example I'm not the best at wine so will often ask what goes with what I've ordered. You'd think that a restaurant could get it together to have a few simple hints and tips from their own wine lists.
