washing and drying up and putting away -never! you need a device called a dishwasher. Cleaner things, more hygienic and I've read somewhere they are more eco friendly than conventional washing up -but I don't know though
My mother who lives in remote rural location with her own septic tank has had far fewer problems with it and with fat blocked pipes since owning a dishwasher, the heat and detergents seem to degrade or emulsify the fat.
I find that I can use about half of manufacturer recommended amounts of detergent, and cooler settings for most items. I don't use detergent tablets as they give a metered dose, with powder or liquid one can choose how much to use and use less where possible.
who owns a dishwasher and who still washes up? any objections to dishwashers?
Dishwashers are one of the best inventions ever, I'd recommend them to everybody. You will never get glasses as clean washing by hand. The only time in 10years I haven't had one is when working away from home for a couple of years and it wasn't worth it for one person.
I haven't got a dishwasher, but I do have a septic tank! I don't seem to have problems with blocked pipes either, thank gawd (am vigilant about not chucking fat down the sink).
Even if I had a dishwasher, I can't see me using it very often - I do most of the washing up whilst I'm in the process of cooking (ie, use a pan, transfer contents to dish, wash pan) so there's never a load of it at any one time.
If I had a larger family (there's just the 2 of us) then I can see how a dishwasher would be a godsend, but as it is, we don't really need one.
We have two dishwashers, Hubby when i'm cooking and me when he's cooking. We have a fat trap free from anglianwater so none goes down the drain the birdies get a feast instead. Its ecologically more sound to wash by hand and our glasses always sparkle cause we wash up properly. I can actually remember being taught how to wash up at school.
My dishwasher is a Bosch also, and it it very good, get rid of the idiots you live with and keep the Bosch! My Mam also taught me how to wash dishes, she also taught me how to hand wash clothes, that's probably more ecologically sound as well, sod it that's what water treatment plants were built for.
Took a lot of persuading O/H to get one in the first place... he thought it was just laziness.. pffttt. I kinda bribed him... He loved my homemade cakes and every sunday evening I would spend hours in the kitchen baking enough for his packed lunches all week,... but hated all the washin up that went with it. So I stopped baking... he soon got the message. One night he said... ohhh ok... we might as well get one as the plumbing is already there for one anyway.
I'd been out n bought one... fitted it in myself all before he was home from work the next night. ... incase he changed his mind.
