I respect all views on all things, and I'd like to think that others would respect my views and life choices too.
As I'm sure many people are aware, there are humane ways to slaughter an animal as well as inhumane. I always seek to educate myself so I can purchase meat which has been produced in the most ethical of ways.
Yes, I could take responsibility for killing any kind of animal which I choose to eat. However, being realistic, as I live in the middle of a city, it's hard to find the space to accommodate a small herd of cows in the top floor of my flat with no land. Therefore, I have to rely on reputable butchers who I trust.
To be quite honest, the inhumane way that humans are killed every day through curable disease and wars (many of which are illegal) are of concern to me. I wonder how many clips of that you find on youtube?
Stand by principles. If it is your choice to eat meat, then eat meat! If it is your choice to become vegetarian, be vegetarian!

I buy my meat from a lovely lady that sells meat from her heard. She got nice snapshots of the animal in question. It has lived a beautiful life and tastes amazing. I agree that some (read most) animals supplied by the major supermarkets probably haven't had the most fantastic life and death but that has not got anything to do with eating meat. That is up to the meat eater to make an active choice and for them to make sure they know what meat they are eating!
I'm sure I am in with the majority of people who just never gave the living conditions of the animals a second thought (or at least pushed them to the very back of my mind) before I picked my cheap chicken up off the shelf in Tesco. Hugh has educated the masses and changed the way I shop forever. I'm sure his campaign would have got precisely no way had he stood before us on our TV screens and just shouted!

You raised a similar topic on another part of this forum, and my answer to you is the same. Why aren't you called Vegan Now? If you're vegetarian and drink milk you are contributing to the slaughter of male calves which are superfluous in dairy farming. Do you care about this when you drink your milk or eat your cheese? Are their deaths on your conscience?
Hi, My grandad is a retired dairy farmer and i work on a farm and have very strong links with the industry. If people dont eat meat because they dont like it, fair do's, but i dont understand where people get their ideas from. Such as Looberry. Have you ever lived the life of a farmer, put the work in for little money? What is wrong with eating meat? Do all the vegetarians want a world without cattle, sheep and pigs? Because if we arent going to eat them, well who is going wo spend money on them, put them up in shelter and look after them 24/7 for no gain? No-one is. And i just get annoyed about the animal rights twaddle. Its nearly an insult to the farmer. A farmer loves his animals, and very ver few farm animals in the UK are mistreated of abused. Know why? Because most of the meat here in the UK, British meat that is, is of fantastic quality. And if an animal is mistreated, it dont produce. I am all for eating veal, its pointless killing the calf and burning it when it can be put to use!! Thats not a waste of a life is it?? It really is rediculous. Ive seen the animals from field to fork, they live a fantastic life, and have a good death. If you would really like to know, the cattle on youtube (yes, ive seen the video) are being killed for Halal and Kosher meat. So why dont you get that outlawed? Most farmers are against it, because that really is animal cruelty. You aught to take a trip to a farm, and a British abattoir and see for yourself how clean the process is. Its an insult to the producer saying thigs like that VEGETARIAN NOW.
No problem in killing my food what so ever thank you but no I dont kill everything i eat because it not practical

I think maybe you need to go to a abattoir these days or maybe watch one of the countless shows on TV that show how animals are treated these days in them
And Hugh was upset that the Chickens were dying through illness not because he had to kill them.

I posted on another Forum about being being vegitarian and i had some very strong views but i now realise that i cannot push my views onto others. Yes vegetarianism is a choice as is being a vegan or even a meat eater. I believe that eating meat it wrong and therefore i don't do it but my friends are meat eaters and i respect them in there ways too, so yeah i totally agree with you for saying how you feel and standing up for animals that can't themselves and i respect you for that but try not to force your outlook onto others?.
I forgot to put this, but when i tell people im a vegetarian they often say to me but what would happen if we were to release all animals to be free etc. What would we do with them? would we keep them as pets? cause if so wouldnt there be an over population of animals and then we would have to kill them so why not kill them anyways and actually put to use of there deaths so they didn't die for nothing?

There are few things more repugnant than those who attempt to force their views on other people. Especially when they use sensationalist Youtube material, and innacurate spin to labour their point. You can't seriously believe what you are saying, if you can't even be intellectually honest in the delivery of your opinion.
The OP should also consider that, generally, those who can be bothered to log on and read the Channel 4 food message boards will also have watched Channel4'sfood programmes containing animal slaughter etc. Therefore, lecturing people - who are likely concious meat buyers - on slaughter, and accusing them of 'hiding behind butchers' is a pointless attempt at being patronising.

The slaughter methods employed in despatching livestock today is so fast and humane that it is an almost "clinical" operation, the slaughter of animals for human consumption is an inevitable part of evryday life,as long as it is done in the correct fashion and humanely without sufferig to the animal I have no complaints whatsoever and will continue to be an omnivore.
Further to my post I DO fully respect your wish Not to consume meat and would simply say that we as a species have dental profiles for the consumption of both meat and vegatable matter therfore we are catergerised as "OMNIVORE"
Yeah i'll have to agree there, I think its cruel and horrible to kill animals full stop, I suppose its part of life i guess, will never be able to stop the mass slaughter of animals, end of the day Most people proberly eat meat for part of there diet,
