I may be the only one but does anyone else feel it will be best for there to be nomore after S4 if Kev and V have gone after Steve and fiona. The same thing happened to teachers all the main char left and it wasn't nearly as good maybe they should fin on a high like no angels

It's a difficult one.As a Kev fan I wil be gutted but then lots of people werent sure how good series three was gonna be after Fiona and Steve leaving and it proved to be excellent.I guess the truth is you just have to have faith in the writers abilities and keep yer fingers crossed.It wont be the same without em but there are plenty of other great characters.

Agree with Jools, i as a steve fan was gutted and worried to see how series 3 would go without Fiona and Steve but it turned out great!
I'm exspecting this series to focus on the Gallagher kids more i exspect Shameless will become more about the kids on the Estate now.
Atleast we still god god old Frank-who lets face it is still the main original character and of course mad Shiela's still in it

I sort of agree with you (as much as I hate that lol) you're right about Teachers I don't think a single one of the main characters who was in the first series was in the last, I still liked the last series but it might as well have been a completely different program.

For me the last series of Shameless wasn’t as good as the first two, don’t get me wrong I still loved it but not as much as series 1&2. I think it has the potential to go on a lot longer but I would prefer to remember it as a excellent program that stopped while it was on top, rather than a good one that I was obsessed with for a while lol that slowly went down in ratings and eventually got the axe (like Teachers).

I hate people who say that great TV series like Shameless should end so end so early just incase it goes stale or downhill. Not every TV show goes downhill.

Theres this annoying trait developing with British drama programmes where we never take the risk in having longer series and end everything early.

Even if they do make a couple of naff series, we'll always have the top class 1st, 2nd & 3rd series to watch.

Imagine if they said after the first series of 24 that they shouldnt do anymore. Or stopped The Simpsons at series 3. Or Frasier didn't make it past the first 2 seasons for risk of getting 'stale'.

It's a f*cking ridiculous mentality and its the very reason why we can no-longer produce good, long running comedies or dramas in this country.

Fawlty Towers was brilliant. It wasnt brilliant because it there were only 12 episodes. If they had gone on to make 112 it still wouldn't have changed just how good those 12 were. The following 100 might not have been as good but guess what? They might have been as good or even better.

But we never get the f*cking chance to find out. As soon as something becomes popular and entertaining people call for it to be taken off air. It's such a wanky, illogical, poor, selfish, pointless argument.

Let's all stop eating Chinese food after 2009 before it gets "stale". After all we dont want too much of a good thing. I really like Cherry Coke so I do hope it's soon withdrawn from the shelves, I couldnt stand being allowed to continue to enjoy a product for as long as I want to.

Shameless will probably will be like every other decent British television show of the past 15 years and end far earlier than it should. And people wonder why they only successful British exports in modern times are rusty old 70's sitcoms and Simon Cowell.

Shameless could easily manage three further series, its a class programme and has shown no signs of decline so far. Paul Abbott is a world class writer and to even suggest that Shameless would go stale after just four series is an insult to him.

i agree with what your saying ryan. ill miss kev and v but im sure theyll bring in more new characters. not every show starts with the same characters and ends with them. as long as lips there i dont care hes well fit!!!

Maybe I am the only one? but, I think the show is disgraceful, shouldnt even be on TV.

For me series 3 was very average, half good, half just okay. I also love Kev and Veronica so i am worried, but i'm going to put my faith in that they can introduce new characters or make full previous characters of a smaller scale already used.

And from that, if they can do that and keep a high level of writing for series 4, then I'll be happy. But i'm not giving up yet, by no means.

Id love to see more of the maguire family in the next shameless

i agree. Veronice was one of the stars of the show for me (i wont let her in this house until she admits shes a DIRTY ADDICT!!!) so not sure how good this show will be. and season 3 seemed to try too hard to be funny and chav-like, whereas it seemed so natural in the other two series.

Hey - where was it said that Kev and Veronica will be gone in series 4? I didn't notice anything in Series 3 that suggested this.

WHat's the story?

Also, does anyone know why they got rid of Steve and Fiona? Did the actors want out, or did the creators want them out? I guess I have the same questions about Kev and Veronica.
