The other nominees for Best Actor are Bernard Hill for 'A Very Social Secretary', Mark Rylance for 'The Government Inspector' and Rufus Sewell for 'The Taming of the Shrew'.

BBC's political satire 'The Thick Of It' received three nominations , one for Best Sitcom category and two for Best Comedy Performance, where Chris Langham and Peter Capaldi were shortlisted.

Soaps 'Coronation Street' and 'EastEnders' are set to battle it out in the Best Continuing Drama category, with competition from 'Casualty' and 'Holby City'.

'Doctor Who', 'Shameless', 'Spooks' and 'Bodies' have been nominated in the Best Drama Series category.

In the Best Entertainment Programme category reality television shows 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'The X Factor' will compete for the honours against 'Have I Got News For You' and 'Friday Night With Jonathon Ross'.

what were those recent awards, in which David Therfall won best actor...? Shameless is head and shoulders above 'Bleak House'. Sure, they are different in genre, but Shameless only loses out on the great 'gongs' it deserves because of the language/and 'naughty' scenes...but they are true of life, and so funny ! Its the stupid 'big cheeses' at the head of BAFTA sat in their high perches....
I could go on lol
thats got me really hot under the collar hasn't it?

Those awards were the Royal Television Society Awards.

Shameless has a good chance, it won the BAFTA last year and it was against Bodies and Spooks then too. Doctor Who might be hard to beat though!

When they read out the best actress winner, her name was Anna something and Anne Marie Duff looked reallly smiley and happy, then it sorta faded. Bless her.
