Okay just me poppin in again to share my thoughts.
I've now watched a total of 4 episodes of series 4, and it's already definitely better than series 3. Although I found series 3 more enjoyable second time round, it still had a depressing and dark vibe running through it for some reason.
Series 4 I'm really enjoying, even with the likes of Kev and Veronica and Sheila (3 of my fave characters) leaving. The Maguires, surprisingly, I'm really loving, Mimi being a particular highlight!
Considering all the changes it's gone through, I'm really really amazed just how much I'm loving this series. I'm so pleased it's picked up its game and really is proving that there is life after Kev, Veronica, Fiona, Steve and... even Sheila (though she will be sorely missed)!!
Speaking of Sheila, I think her exit was really fantastically well done, one of the best bits of the series so far. Her final realisation that Frank treats her like crap. It was a brave move I think - we all got that happy moment where we realised Frank had finally seen sense and perhaps saw Frank at his most honest and happiest ever, only for him to shoot himself in the foot and get a comeuppance which maybe we as an audience would rather he didnt now he did seem like something of a changed man.
However, Sheila DID deserve better bless her, and hopefully the shock of her exit will teach Frank a lesson or two. Him running back to Monica makes me think otherwise though!

Must admit that me and my fella were watching shameless last night and he did say to me that he felt the program had becoe too centrally based around frank and his wives. Kev, V and Sheila are quite a loss and I just hope we get top see more of the other characters like marty as it seems a bit odd that him, his missus and the baby dissapeared since episode 1 of series 4, have they told anyone that they are al;so expecting? I like to see the other characters like Kash from the shop and his missus and lillian. That Debbie is getting on my nerves a bit now, we've had 4 series of her with a chip on her shoulder, the character doesn't seem to be developing or anything.

I don't know if anyone's seen him in said film Angelas's Ashes as the eldest version of Frankie McCourt, but he could be very good for the show also!
Omg that took me ages to work out who you ment by stans sidekick, but your right it is him isnt it. I love Angelas ashes, i am sure he will play this part very wel

what has happened to Series 4!!??
Have the writers changed because the series is no longer funny. I loved Series 1-3 but it's taken a big drop in quality.

I'm loving the series. I was at first upset at the loss of Kev, Veronica and now Shelia...Possibly my fave three gone over the space of a few episodes...but like the loss of Fiona and Steve I got over it and embrace the changes. Loving the the Maguires as more regular cast members. Mimi especially. Norma and Monica also. I was worried when I heard that Shameless was to continue, despite the departure of important cast members (and the fact that we are now on the 4th series, always a problematic time fore any show). Frank and Monica returning to their family looks promising (poor Debbie). Happy so far!
Comedy - a habit I won't quit.

Has Kash now left the series? I have also noticed how Marty and Carol are missing from the opening titles. Are they gone for good. There are too many characters leaving in this series for there to be any continuity to storylines.

To me there does seem to be something missing. Having said that I think that some of the individual story-lines have been superb - Ian and the girl - so unexpected. Debbie and the boy (Why was he called Luke? :-) Carl and his Mum's Birthday - on E4 last night. All entertaining and wonderfully performed by the said characters.
