I have just read in the paper that manchester council will be knocking the "chatsworth estate" down and building a brand new development - Is this the end of shameless?? Ill get back to you with the complete article soon!!
Deborah Goodman, spokeswoman for the series, said: "We have always had fantastic support from the estate. "We do not view the area as grotty at all because of the warmth of the people. But if the area changes we will have to cut our cloth accordingly."
That suggests to me that they'll simply film it elsewhere. So no, it's not the end for Shameless.
The key point too take from this news however is that the changes won't affect them this series, which suggests they don't want it to be the last series yet. Which is great news. Wether it does continue beyond the fourth series will depend on several things, but this news makes it clear that they haven't given the programme a definitive ending that would prevent it coming back, which is brilliant news.
Hopefully they'll increase it's budget next year and they can offer Sheila a mega deal to convince her to come back for the fifth series. She's so important to the show i can't believe they've let her go without a fight.
I've always said when people have called for Shameless to be ended due to cast departures that the only essential characters in Shameless are Frank, Sheila, Lip, Ian, Debbie & Carl. So long as it can keep hold of those six it could keep going for a few more series. It would be a shame to see a brilliant and completely unique programme like this to call it quits after just 34 episodes when it clearly still has the potential too continue.
wo, me heart missed a beat thn!!! they cnt knock the estate dwn, its the shameless livlihood! lol so do ppl actually live full time in the houses where shameless is filmed, like so sum1 actually lives in the gallagers house? ? ? ?? how amazin wud that b lol xxx
