I think all series have different qualities and measure up nicely. The show has naturally evolved, but remained consistent throughout. So; - difficult to name a fave. I always think the latest series is the best - probably due to its freshness and new developments.

Couldn't agree more!!! As long as Frank is there the show will always be shameless. And series 5 so far has been epic.
I think series 1 and 2 were the best as it focused on the gallaghers its gone down hill since fiona and steve left and the show brought in the maguires. I say BRING BACK FIONA AND STEVE

I agree totally. I don't like the Maguires TBH.
I wasnt keen on the maguires at first but like them all now, esp mickey who has been one of (if not best)in series 5

They will grow on you - I wasn't sure initially either, but I love them now! Mickey is one of the best characters in the show's history in my opinion - he's just too funny!
Series 5 has definitely been the best. With minor characters becoming more prominant,such as lillian and norma - the show has a much more diverse feel now. And its a lot more comedic than the old series. Series 5 has also seen characters i couldnt stand before grow on me. Mimi and Monica i now think r really funny!
Series 5 without a doubt for me. (and it was the biggest series so far!!)
