Now, I have gathered that every member on this forum is obsessed with one of the cast members. Karen - Rebecca Atkinson
Rebecca Atkinson was born in 1983 in Greater Manchester. She was a student at the Preston College of Dance and Drama. Apart from playing Karen Jackson in C4's legendary 'Shameless', she has played numerous characters in different programmes.
She appeared in 'New Street Law' as 'Susie Hardwick' and in ITV's 'Heartbeat' as 'Hayley Felton'. She played 'Linda' in 'Caught In The Headlights' and appeared as 'Savanna' in 'Holby City'. She played the very comical part of 'Asia' in Johnny Vegas' 'Ideal' and appeared in 'Life On Mars' as 'Tina'. She played 'Caitlin Vicars' on ITV's 'The Bill' and was 'Sharon Irvine' in 'Doctors'. She played 'Suzanne' in 'The Royal' and played a girl in 'Now You See Her'.
The latest news is that Rebecca Atkinson will be taking part in the London Marathon for the Christie Hospital, one of Europe's largest cancer treatment research and treatment centres. She will be on the streets of London on April 22nd in memory of family and friends who have sadly passed away from cancer over the last few years. Rebecca is now hard in training for the event, although shes confident that she will do well, after completing last years run in around 4 hours. She said: "Growing up in Salford, I’ve obviously heard lots about the Christie Hospital. My grandad and uncle were both treated for cancer and recently a close friend of mine died. I just feel I need to do something to help, and when I decided to do the Marathon again, supporting Christie’s seemed the natural choice. I really enjoyed it last year. It was hard work, but nothing like I’d expected, although I did have plenty of blisters afterwards. The atmosphere was electric and I can’t wait to get down there to experience it again. In the meantime, I’ll be tapping up everyone on the Shameless set for sponsorship so I can hopefully raise as much money as possible for the Christie to help people suffering from cancer."
