Fair enough.

Thanks to the wonders of the internet I can produce this:

Lovely summers day for Saturday of the Lords Test

suggesting that Lords basked in warm if not overly hot sunshine on the day of that particular innings.

Perhaps it was the full horror of the 1989 Ashes series unfolding before your eyes that brought a particular chill to your heart Big Grin

Bother!

My link appears not to want to work as I would wish.

Still if you (or anyone else who is interested) wish to enter the date June 24 1989 and click Retreive Chart then you will see what I mean.

Collingwood is a player of immense dedication and application. He will score more runs than many players with twice his ability. Any success that comes his way should be applauded, not sneered at.
I agree. At the end of that what matters is how successful a player is. Different players get there in differnt ways. To be mocking at somebody because he is not a flashy stroke maker or a so called "personality" is totally losing the point. There are many who don't think that Steve Waugh was as talented as some of his illustrious peers but the score board shows otherwise. Same with the likes of Allan Border.

No doubting it. Frown That day in particular. The press called it "Black Saturday".

Nice meeting the great man Garth though.

A true cricketing gent by all accounts.

A travesty the Aus selectors denied him the opportunity to hold the Aus wickets record in tests for a time.

Why do some people here call Collingwood Maggie?

If it's because Newcastle are known as the Magpies, it's known that Collingwood supports their arch-rivals, Sunderland.

GBH (who does support Newcastle) once burned his Sunderland shirt.

Collingwood (the most hated AFL side ever) are known as the Magpies.

Good old Collingwood forever,
they know how to play the game,
side by side they stick together,
to uphold the magpie name

Hear the barrackers are shouting,
as all good barrackers should,
oh the priemerships a cakewalk ,
for the good old Collingwood.
