BOOM! TISH!

Langer is making a point in answer to Lillee's criticism,as Martyn did in the ODI.Now we just need McGrath to silence the critics.

Tassie effectively 1-236; probably looking to set a target of 350 plus, sometime early tomorrow.

Might call in sick tomorrow and go down to see the fireworks.

FFS, tozzies now got 8 points from 2 games, with a possible another 4

This pitch is really becoming quite an embarassment. What is wrong with the curators out west? Did they deliberately reduce the ammount of clay in the pitch or did it just happen?
Can the WACA Test be moved to Bellerive?

Bevan becomes an aged dasher.

... should be a cracker of a final day. If Tasmania declares at its overnight score, WA will have 90 overs to chase 350.
I suspect the Tasmanians to come out for a 4-5 over tonkathon, aiming for another 30 runs or so, leaving WA a target of 380 in about 82 overs. They need to offer WA a good sniff of victory to have any chance of getting the extra points themselves. Dan Marsh will need to bowl well. Bevan should also have a bowling spell.

|

|
Isn't a Sield day 96 overs?
I agree, Tasmania would risk prresenting WA with six points were they to declare overnight, but they shouldn't proceed further than your scenario either.
We need a second spinner for the Perth test. Global Warming...

It's a shame we no longer seem to have specialist batsmen in the Test side - apart from Clarke or perhaps Katich, if either makes it - who can bowl presentable spin on such occasions, in the manner of Simpson, O'Neill, Stackpole, Ian Chappell, Cowper and so forth.

You're right about the 96 rather than 90 overs. My bad. In which case Tassie should probably throw the bat for about 8-10 overs, certainly no more, leaving 84-86 overs for the WA team to score something just over 400.

Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Hussey, and Martyn must be the weakest top five we've had, in terms of their bowling 'sidelines'. Hodge and Katich can bowl a bit I guess. If Katich can bowl (and bat) well in some of the early Shield games, he might yet press Watson/Clarke for that sixth spot. Clarke's back seems to be a big problem and will most likely limit his bowling. Ponting was regarded as 'promising' in the off-spin department a few years ago, but he never developed it much, perhaps because Lehmann came along/back to fulfil that role. (cue Zim: it's all Boof's fault)

Aye, it IS all Boof's fault.
Easy, drop Hayden for Rogers who is a handy spinner.

WA need 401 to win in about 82 overs.
First Michelle by Heal, I think. Looks like he might get to do a lot of FC bowling this summer.
|

|

WA need 401. Not sure about the number of available overs, but it can't be overly generous.
Ten for Heal, though some probably gifts in pursuit of quick runs.

Marsh gave them 81 overs. So a fraction under 5 an over.

can the wallies save it from here?
