Agree entirely. Even if England performed to their full potential they would have trouble beating this Australian team.
However it's disappointing that they have significantly underperformed - credit shoud be given to Australia for this, but England have done themselves no favours by not fielding their strongest side, failing to prepare (to the same intensity as Aus) and choosing the wrong skipper.
Two 3 day games before the first test (only one of which was 1st class) was an absurd preparation.
These were basically single innings knock abouts and did not include any preparation at the Gabba. England may as well have simply awarded the first test to the Aussies.
Since then, they have had only the 2 day match at the WACA to work on their form.
Pathetic. I only hope this is not overlooked when the ECB review the disaster.
