You are going to cost the Ashes. Fast bowlers just don't have waht it takes at his age to maintain pace and hostility to be useful at international level against a quality batting lineup like like that of England. I can see Trescothick, Flintoff and Pietersen dominationg him again just like they did last year. Only this time he is nearly 2 years older (seems to be struggling to get close to his usual pace of mid 80's) and coming back from a serious injury.

He's always been low 80's.

He's a class act McGrath and at the end of the day his pace doesn't matter as long as it stays in the 80's. Glenn is dead eye dick, he could hit a barn door.

He gets his wickets in the corridor of uncertainty and Englands batsman will take the bait if he puts it their have you seen Englands batting lately.

On his home turf as well you'd have to back Glenn to get some

didn't he take his wickets at the same average as the best english bolwers?

the only one that dominated him was a stray cricket ball.

And I thought I was talking a load of crap tonight. He's still Australia's second best bowler.

Therapy? made my ears hurt

It comes to something when a Pom has to defend McGrath.

Here goes, why do you suppose that Strauss tried to hit him out of the attack on Saturday? don't tell me it was all in the context of the game being played at the time.

Trust me, McGrath is still seen as a potent threat.

if you think that is a tacit acknowledgement of weakness - wrong!!

England to draw the series 2 - 2.

i for one was amazed people made such a big deal out of that, astle charged and smacked mcgrath for quite a few in the 2005one day series before the tests in new zealand.

I think one over he hit mcgrath for three 4's in a row, funny that he wasn't able to keep doing that in the tests that followed.

If mcgrath really is finished england still won't be able to hit him for 4-5 an over, he's just not that sort of bowler anybody who thinks otherwise knows almost nothing about the game.

whats more likely would be figures like pollock is giving now, 1/90 of say 32 overs.

What's this about? If the Aussies want Pigeon to retire, I'll back them wholeheartedly. Having seen the way our batting lineup are shaping up lately, we need all the unexpected help we can get!

Curtly, Courtney and Richard would disagree with you there.

I do feel that playing in India instead of the homeland was a mistake, and if he still struggles in the remaining game(s) Stuart Clark should replace him

Gee , England really showed how bad a bowler Glen McGrath is in the 3 Tests he played in the last Ashes didn't they?

Yes, McGrath bowled poorly, managing only 19 wickets @ 23.15 each!

McGrath isn't the bowler he used to be along with Shane Warne because they have had many injuries over the years and their leags are just tired from all the bowling.

People have no respect for age on this forum.
McGrath is a quality bowler; look at his stats not his age.
I guess McGrath has become the Ashley Giles of the Aussie team.
As my wife always says; Respect your elders!

OK, it just seems that it's 1-2 English trolls and 1 Aus troll saying anything derogatory.

I thought Mcgrath would be bowling much quicker by now because of that extra muscle around his shoulders???
