Dougie's finest hour:

And let's not forget when he scooped McGrath for successive fours in this close one:

The remarkable thing is that DM is now at an age, 28, when Australians are considered for the test team.

OP ... why your great interest in Marillier ... I'm just curious. Is it specifically because of that goose shot?

Others played that shot previously, I believe (Dion Nash comes to mind)

I don't have any special reason... just that he looks like a goose and played that big hand in the match versus India. :-)

Fairy nuff.

It's hard to explain why certain players pique your interest sometimes. With West Indians, often the name was enough (Grayson Shillingford, Elquemedo Willett, Nehemiah Perry).

Can never fault the Windies for not having colourful names. :-)

WRT Zimbabwe, still sad about their demise. They really had the nucleus of a good team in those days.

Been four years now since they even won a test versus Bdesh

I would put Eddo Brandes ahead of Olonga. Better record in ODIs and more experience. Olonga would replace Brandes for more test experience in all time Zim Test XI.

Shane Warne to Eddo Brandes: "Why are you so fat?"

Eddo Brandes to Shane Warne: "Thats because your wife feeds me biscuits everyday."

Big Grin

Suprisingly, the Zimboks always seemed to be blessed with great keepers. No way keeper/bats like either Houghton, Flower or Taibu could be kept out from any team. They could walk in as batsmen any day. Players lik Andy Flower, Taibu and Steve Tikolo didn't deserve playing cricket for Zim and Kenya.

What happened to Johnson and Goodwin after they returned to play professional cricket back in SA and Aus respectively? Wasn't Johnson aiming for a Saffie berth playing for Natal?

If I ate a biscuit every time I read/heard that story, I'd have a gut the size of Tasmania.

And to think that a side like India blessed with the likes of Kumble, Prasad, Bhajji, Sachin, Dravid, Azhar, Prabhakar, Shastri, Kapil, Dravid, Ganguly, Sidhu, More, Manjrekar, Laxman, N. Mongia etc., could never beat a Zimbok side worth beating away. The cricketing enigma known as India.....

Yes, that 1999 World Cup match against Zimbabwe cost India badly.

Wasn't much that they could do against South Africa, though. They had too many good lower order hitters.

Man, I wish I get hold of proper highlights of the 1999 World Cup, not that crappy DVD which was released!

Brian Davison and Traicos would qualify for this side as well.

Davison remains one of the best hitters I have seen, in the Gilchrist/Symonds mould.

Traicos stats for Zimbabwe are rubbish barring that 5 wicket haul against India.

Stats for South Africa, for whom he played when representing 'Rhodesia', were not too bad.

There was a bit of a gap before he got another go.

I am aware of that. The only problem is he played for Zimbabwe far too late in the day and his performance solely for Zimbabwe doesn't allow his selection for an all time Zimbabwe list ahead of Olonga, Brandes, Travis or Streak.

Marrilier was another enigma that probably won't make the list.

Why are you comparing Traicos with Olonga, Streak, Brandes, and Travis??
