With Magoo falling foul of the disciplinary authorities again, it reminds me of one of the oft-suggested reasons he isn't picked more often for Australia: That he isn't regarded as a team player by several of his counterparts.
(Of course, none of them have come out publicly and said the same, but let's disregard that for a moment.)
Similarly it was suggested that Matt Elliott had a tendency to get very negative, very quickly, thus he wasn't pushed back into the national squad after his knee injury.
And Michael Nobhead Slater. After a bright start to his career, the ending was pretty sad.
So we have openers and a genuine number 11. Suggestions for the other eight?
1. Matt Elliott 2. Michael Slater 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. Stuart MacGill
God, I would have hated to play with him and from many of the comments he makes broadcasting he still doesn't have a perspective on his own shortcomings as a player & leader.
1. Matt Elliott 2. Michael Slater 3. Dean Jones 4. Kim Hughes (c) 5. 6. Tim Zoehrer (wk) 7. Greg Matthews 8. Geoff Lawson 9. 10. Scott Muller 11. Stuart MacGill
I think Wood is out-ranked by the two openers in place, likewise Simmo.
Bradman crossed my mind, but again, not as widely regarded as bad for morale as some of the others.
And without having a name to suggest, I reckon there have to be better candidates than the Koalas, too.
So a middle-order bat and another seamer. Or perhaps an all-rounder instead of the seamer.
deano was not bad for morale...the koalas really earn their place from unearned selections and Ksnr's case his penchants for redink and running partners out
deano was not bad for morale...the koalas really earn their place
Typical vomit response, right on cue.
...agree on the elliot front but not jones...he whinged after being sacked...players such as magoo, BNLG, Bix, Kaspro, bung have made a living out of whinging to get in and stay in the team
So if we drop Deano and bring in Wood, moving Elliott to 3...
1. Graeme Wood 2. Michael Slater 3. Matt Elliott 4. Kim Hughes (c) 5. Stuart Law 6. Tim Zoehrer (wk) 7. Greg Matthews 8. Geoff Lawson 9. Craig McDermott 10. Scott Muller 11. Stuart MacGill
An XI you'd almost have to pay spectators to watch.
