It will be something if Aus manage to win this world cup, and without Brett Lee too. Last time they did it without Warne who at the time was just as an important cog in the machine as Lee is now.
We'll see...
-------------------------------------------------------- I say it so it must be so.
To me (and I may be doing some teams a disservice) Sri Lanka seem to be the only team that really, genuinely believe that they can win and overcome all obsticles (apart from Oz obviously, although I suspect that recent losses may have introduced a few demons in the mind).
Whilst SL may not win, such a mindset is half the battle, especially when playing Oz who are intimidating on their reputation just as much as their talent.
You have to hand it to Aus, they're going to go from the off and that is that. Other teams have been poncey wimps who've either been circumspect at the magnitude of 'the World Cup oooh' or have been striving to better their averages or something as shellfish as that. For Aus it's been back yourself, hit out or get out, which has easily been the most entertaining and makes me ashamed of my jittery, scaredycat team. Either that or they're a limited bunch of players who shouldn't be in the same team together. Tests are for 'playing yourself in' and any team who're going to compete with Aus at this WC are going to be the ones who decide that it's time to move on - kick it up a notch and play modern cricket. Which IMO, is only one of SA, SL and NZ(unless two things - WI get some batting form or England still have the attack to restrict Aus - therefore making it a more old school game.)
I think Australia have realised that their attack is vulnerable, so they have decided to bat everyone else out of the match. Fortunately Hayden is in rich form for them.
