Arjuna Ranatunga, Sri Lanka's World Cup-winning captain in 1996, claims he has received an offer to coach an English county next summer. Ranatunga last week resigned as Sri Lanka's deputy minister of tourism to spend more time with the cricket board.
"I have been contacted by a county in England for coaching and a country wants me to be their consultant up to the World Cup," he said.
"If I am not required by my country, maybe I will consider one of these."
He refused to reveal any more about the offers.
A sometimes-controversial figure, he played 93 Tests and 269 one-day internationals for Sri Lanka, skippering the side for 11 years and retiring in 2001.
He spent time in England in May and joined up with the Sri Lanka team while they practised for the first Test at Lord's.
