Where does Hilf's 60 wickets rank on the list for most wickets in a season? I know Funky took over 70 one season and Bix and Tait both took over 60 a couple of years ago.

By the way, over 80% of Hilf's wickets this season were top seven batsmen and 45% batted in the top three. Would have beaten Funky's record if he was given a shot at the tail.

If only he played for a more fashionable side. Still, those numbers may get him a Test spot yet, tho I'm sure the dubbers will be pumping the tyres for some cod ordinary trundler.

Outstanding stuff. Swings it both ways at sharpish pace - should be next in line for the Test team.

That's amazing. I knew he was special when I saw him bowl to Maher and Hayden in the JAMODD at the Gabba earlier this year. He really had them jumping around and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket.

He should be ahead of Johnson now. Johnson needs to spend a dominant year in FC cricket before he gets a full time gig.

Shield ...Most Wickets in a Season

I've prepared for the worst case scenario ...but it could be even worse than that

Aye.

A 'dominant year' mightn't be enough ....

Also a good point. Johnson at least seems to have a bit more to him than Tait, but suffers from the same maddening inconsistency.

You have to wonder if Hilf should have even been playing in this game.

he shoudl have got more chacces in the one dayers and i feel he would have been more useful than tait clark or johnson and he would be playing in the west indies right now.

First:
Babs, Ucker, thank you for doing the right thing by Tassie and the wrong thing by Australia, by leaving the Burnie Brickie at home to help fill that empty space in the trophy cabinet. True Tasmanians, the both of you. I dips me lid.

Second:
For twenty five bloody years we've been ignored, sneered at, humiliated and abused. For more decades than I've lived we've put up with every bad incest/inbreeding joke in the book. And look at us now - two seats on the NSP, the National captaincy, the best young bowler in the country and Shield champions.
(plus it looks like it might possibly be the beginning of the end for the most corrupt government this country has seen since the Big Peanut was given the Big A)

Third:
The two who played the biggest part in this final are a pair of home-grown twenty-three year olds. You bloody champions.

Fourth: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

In lieu of Johnson I agree.

Don't forget his competition was like a wet paper bag.

Congratulations to Tasmania on a great win in the final. They have been the best team in the competition all season & are very deserving winners. Wright & Butterworth had outstanding allround matches. Clingeleffer scored an important century & Hilfenhaus again magnificent with the ball. I hope he is selected in the Australian team for the next test they play.

Spot on, that's the most important thing. Spends his days toiling against the top order then is given a rest while the other bowlers clean up the tail. Ends up with a carp load of 4-fers made up completely from top order batsmen, which would have been 5 & 6-fers had he got more opportunitys against the tail.
