the champ (is that the correct spelling?)has a wicket to his name in another match turning performance...what the Ks were to batting the magoo is to spin bowling...he has managed to make young horrie look like a dangerous wicket taker

1/91 in the session means Tassie are 7/378 at tea and extremely unlikely to lose. They may as well keep batting I guess.

The Blues will need 489 off the last four innings.

I'm prepared to call this one.

Not a bad effort at all by Butters, in his fifth first class match! One to remember.

He's the new Miller.

Yes. The onus is on NSW to bowl them out and always should have been that way. There is NO point in declaring at any stage in the shield final if you're the home team, unless you are in the situation that QLD were in last year (6/900).

I'm glad they've gone for the 'grind the basseterres into the dirt' option.

Cling makes clingy progress towards his ton.

Well earned title for the tozzies, they haven't had too many star performers but they've all made contributions and they made sure the dubbers didn't win.

Edith and Hattie have to see out a few overs here. Might jag one.

BTW, for all you number nerds out there, all the innings so far have been multiples of ten.

Was Mark Waugh on his last chance when...

* He scored an unbeaten century at Durban in 1994 to draw the match and save the series.

* Scored a century at Sabina Park in 1995 to support his brother's double-ton and win the series.

* Scored a century at Port Elizabeth in 1997 to almost single-handedly win the match and series.

* Scored an unbeaten century in last innings at Adelaide in 1998 to save the test and win the series.

* Scored a century in the second innings at Karachi in 1998 to ensure Australia couldn't lose. The pitch was flat, but take out his innings and Pakistan would most likely have drawn the series.

Mark Waugh can be accused of underperforming for most of his Test career. But he can't be accused of failing to score runs under pressure.

When he did perform it was often when Australia really needed him to.

Cheers.

Crepes on a stick. I was only referring to Butters as the new Mark Waugh as he got his ton, then got out. Too many people drawing too much else into this.

Aye. I don't think anyone had a lower hundred-average than Waugh Jnr.

five knocks in a long career...how many failures??
