There was no need for him to hang around with England team. He was surely undermining Flintoff. He gave Flintoff the impression that heas the non-playing captain, a bit like the Ryder cup.

To be fair, it didn't take much to undermine Flintoff throughout the test series.

Personally, I would just make Strauss captain now for two reasons:

1) Vaughan is often carried in the team, when did he last get a big innings?
2) Vaughan is very susciptible to breaking down.

He last got a decent score back in december 2005. Oh wait.....That was the last Test match he played for England.

Susceptible to breaking down? You mean unlike Flintoff?

One drawback with Michael Vaughan's Captaincy is that he is a passenger in Englands one day team.

Well, well, well, it now seems Tim De Lisle is making a similar point about Vaughan.

Ooooh, Tim De Lisle said it. It must be true.

All that means is that you're both wrong.

Isn't Tim de Lisle a drunken hobo who scratches his 'insights' in chalk under a bridge somewhere?

The real question is: Should MV have been in the team as a Brearley style captain, regardless of injury?

Vaughan is the most talented England batsman after KP. Dont know why people are suggesting he's playing as a specialist captain.

That's not saying much.

Probably cos he's crap as an ODI bat, you clown.

70+ ODIs, an average of less then 30, a strike rate of less then 70, and not one ton opening the batting.

2 batsmen who average more than 50 against Australia and still you cant give them credit, Zim? Dear oh dear.

Its not like Vaughan is keeping a brilliant ODI batsman out of the side. He's averaged 45 in his last 15 odi's. Im willing to bet thats more than what Ponting and Lara have averaged in their last 15.

Because (evidently) he was not fit enough to play in the Ashes as a batsman.
