Read recently that Mr.Bucknor has been shortlisted for the umpire of the year award....

Correct me if I am wrong....was he not one the gentlemen who was involved in the World Cup final fiasco and is he not one of the umpires 'suspended' from umpiring in the T20 world Cup...

Given the way the ICC is run won't be surprised if he wins it.....but no it will be Taufel again despite his howlers this summer!!

Such is the quality of umpires these days!!

I don't understand why Ricky Ponting is Player of the Year. What has he done this year to deserve that?

How did Vaughan make it into an XI when he missed Pakistan, Sri Lanka (both home) and the Ashes!?!?!?!?!? Awards should be credible otherwise noone will take them seriously, Ponting getting captain of the year is maybe the biggest laugh of the lot. Any idiot could captain Australia, only one does and gets to laugh at the other idiots who made him captain of the year for it

It just shows that these ICC awards aren't really worth anything. They should let the fans vote and then maybe the awards will mean something.
