The Cricket Calender - i view as the Test Match Cycle. It is not perfect, there are some contests which are more frequent than others. But its still the best calender to be followed for a Test Rating.

Minor detail - those rankings were developed by someone else, PWC i think. The ICC just bought them i think, and now passes them of as its own.


If you read the method there, its a very studied methods, and even though i have several questions about that method (such as its obsession with result as a parameter for judging value of innings), it is atleast a serious rankings method.

Rankings serve a useful purpose. One finds that they broadly reflect the opinion of fans and the trend of recent results.

Nah.... they shouldnt do that. A Test Ranking should rank the Test Teams of the world in order - starting with the best and ending with the least best.

Rankings shouldnot broadly reflect the opinion of fans. They wouldnt be necessary if that is all that they had to do.

I think the discussion is about method.

If we really want to follow what little_master suggests is the purpose of a ranking, then it would be very simple.

We get every forummer to list his ranking (as per his individual perception) on a particular date (say today). With a large enough sample we could then determine a ranking.

That would give you what little_master suggests.

So you made the point wrong. What you wrote implies that the results from the ratings are in agreement with opinions made by fans. It doesnot mean that fans can make their opinions based on the results of the ratings.

Comeon Kartik bhai so what you are telling me is that if the KCC rankings are to replace the ICC rankings then Dravid would check them everyday?
