Rob,
You could have a point.
Roy,
Foster is a million times better than anyone else out there. And he'd beat Stephen Davies in a bare knuckles fist fight.

Yes but Suttons batting is much better than Read, and hes a better gloveman than Jones.

Rach- I think so. No, Sutton is loads better.

So have we started the 'Offical' Foster for Keeper club now?

|

Not convinced Fozzie is going to be the answer to Englands wk/batting problem....

They are both rubbish these days, so it wouldn't be hard.

Mate, me and Andrea have been pimping this idea since before he played Test Matches first time around. JKL, I had these same discussions years ago. Great wicket-keeper batsmen do not grow on trees. Gilchrist is a freak of nature.

So who?
I think we might have to face facts and go for 6 batsmen, Freddie, wicketkeeper and 3 other bowlers, if everyone keeps playing as they are right now.

True. Given the nature of England current tail and the need to stop folding like a deck of cards, i'm leaning towards Prior.
Although, that does smack of GoJo all over again regards to the keeping.

I know you have, I remember the posts about The Child but were you 'offical' back then?

Most 'sane' people have said that from way before the series. I think Felcher is too stubborn to change frankly...

Happily. I've been saying it since even before the Ashes win (although that kind of scuppered my ideas), but anyway. Although I'm not so sure now, what with Harmi not performing and Fred being injury scare ALL the time.

All the more reason for having 4 bowlers and a longer batting line up. To me you can only justify 5 bowlers if they are all doing a job. The 5th bowler has more often than not been woeful - as we predicted

Prob is with Freddie having a longterm ankle problem, they are going to have to pick a keeper who can bat. Fozzie would be a decent no 8, whether hes upto 7 is another matter. The logical choice would be to have Rikki Clarke at 6, Flints at 7 and then Sutton at 8.

Inappropriate and very dangerous, I'd wager. Well, upon reflection (where Captn Roy is concerned anyway) probably works in your favour!

What I mean is, with those two struggling how are we going to bowl sides out? But I suppose, batting longer = more chance of a draw and hence not a loss. Bit dull though really.

The most illogical thing I have ever heard you say Roberto. Clarke at 6????????

I don't know what it takes to become 'official' these days. Simon Hughes' article was a fine beginning to the campaign though.

I don't think anyone does anymore, Rachel. these are strange times.
I guess we'll just have to wait until after the World Cup now to find out what will happen next.

Well your want and desire for Sutton to play, mean't I had to take the Clarke comment semi serious.

Well I certainly think Sutton is a more credible batsman than Read- given the fact that he is batting at 7 in a test match- why not?
