Surely it is time now for Duncan to concentrate on what he is good at and JUST coach the test side.

Although we haven't actually started losing anymore ODI's than we previously did according to Cricinfo around 55%, however he also hasn't managed to improve us, in fact excluding the Sri Lanka series, with an almost full side we are still utter cr@p!

In my opinion the old Badger should walk away from ODI coaching and stick with what he is good at in the test arena???

Any thoughts?

For some reason, there's never been much split coaching. Who knows what Maynard does exactly - he's the batting coach, yes, but he seems to have taken over the fielding stuff too. He could even be quite a big voice in the ODI dressing room. Just don't know. Who'd you choose anyway? You've gotta take the rough with the smooth and Fletcher is only one voice on the selection commitee...

If there were a way of splitting the coaching ...Fletch for Tests and A.N.Other for the ODI's then I would be all for it.

Mang's mention of Maynard sends shivers down my spine. A has-been, second divvy Glamorgan mediocre batsman .... enough said.

The ECB ought to now draft in a coach/es from one or two of the most successful County One Day sides tis season and dove-tail them into the set-up, certainly send them to Australia this winter, with a view to retaining their services through the WC in '07.

Fletch's tinkering these past months proves that he is, at best, hopeless at the ODI style of the game.

Agreed,

It seems to me very strange that he was a decent ODI player himself and yet, seems clueless tactically and with regards to coaching in the ODI arena.

Maybe it is just to quick a game for him to formulate plans.....?

As for split coaching, I can't see why not. The disciplines are different in many ways...

Maynard as a batting coach seems to be struggling, maybe bring in a Dermot Reeve or Adam Hollioake type player who specialised in OD cricket???

Yep.
Doesn't change my opinion of the hapless Maynard "the coach" though!

I want Fletcher as Test coach and Ray Jennings as the ODI coach. He would sort out the bowlers with ice baths between overs if not happy with their bowling and any wides the bowler bowls means running round the ground 5 times for each wide after the game. 3 times for a no ball. He would be on the balcony with his chart making sure the run rate was kept up and being a keeper himself could try a make Jones into one.

England may as well do things right for a change and hire an Australian straight up to sort England's one day team out.
