Rather like the ill-fated British Lions tour of NZ under Clive Woodward, England have a ridiculously bloated support staff down under at the moment. Many's the time that the camera has panned over to the dressing room, and some unknown bloke (a security guard?/team video analyst?/fitness trainer?) is sitting next to the next England batsman waiting to go in. How are England meant to get any team spirit going when all these useless hangers on are cluttering up the dressing room?!
A drastic overhaul is needed, at the most the coach, assistant coach, a fitness trainer and physio should be all that are needed along with the players. As Nasser Hussain said today England are spoon fed and pampered to an extent that the Aussies would never even contemplate. Hence their inability to think on their feet and show any fight.
The Ashes came home, now they're off to Convict Country once again
Australia has plenty of support staff too - they just don't crowd the TV screen in the same way the England ones do. You'll have seen quite a few randoms hanging around the outfield after the victory yesterday - I recognised many of them from earlier matches and they were wearing Cricket Australia livery.
