Gayles career batting average stands at around 38 in test matches.
Sehwags worst year in test cricket (where he played more than one test
match) was 2006 where he played 12 test matches and averaged close to
40. Even if you include the bad one test he played in 2007 where he
scored only 44 runs total, it brings his average in the last 13 tests
down to about 38, this relatively lower average is still about the
same as Gayle's career average in test cricket.
Both play in a similar way and one batsman (namely Gayle) is
considered invaluable to the West Indies and the other is considered a
liability to the team.
Instead of appreciating what we have, India want something we do not
have. I would like to look at the glass half full rather than see it
as half empty
