What is beginning to annoy me is the fact that many poms on this forum are screaming about wrong umpireing decisions given in Australias favour in the current test series between Australia & India, yet I would guess not one of the aformentioned poms put in a single complaint in 2005 when Kasper was given out wrongly in the second test, and THAT DECISION cost Australia the ashes.
The greater the challenge, the more GLORIOUS the triumph.
Australians all let us rejoice, for we are 1-2-3.
Must have a drink,I'm drier than a pommies bath towel.

I reckon we would have copped it sweet and got on with it.
Don't come back with Ponting and the monkey report as different principles were involved.
The problem is Australia will not get handed shockers like that against them......particularly in Australia!!.....remember u guys once threatened to return home from Pakistan sometime in the 80's or whenever it was bcos of poor umpiring!!
....so your point re: copping it and getting on with it dosen't apply

I am not so sure, as ponting usually gets a bit upset even if he is cleanly given out, it happened quite often in the recent ODI series in india.

Ponting is a whinger no doubt as he is always on about something or other but he does get over it till next time.
I doubt he would even entertained doing anything official about Bucknor though. It's funny too that Pakistan India and Sri Lanka can be so touchy about umpires whereas South Africa England and Australia seem to accept their decisions.
On second thought though rightly or wrongly Sri Lanka's hand was forced in defending Murali.
Have you heard the reason that Symonds monkey chanting episodes in India was initiated by Uni students and that the average Indian spectator would not have been organised enough or spiteful enough to do such a thing?

I don't remember that though if wasn't a media beat up then you have a point.
I just don't ever recall Australia whining about umpires to any great extent ever.

Regarding your first point those two decisions were by Bucknor were IMO not biassed bad as they were. I also doubt Australia gets favourable treatment when playing at home. Let's be fair dinkum.

You have to be joking, as if australia dont get favoured treatment and AT HOME i think it increases about 40% more, you have to be joking, thi can not be a serious opinion.

Oh come on, there is no way that you can say that regarding that you just said that it is basicly all the subcontinent teams that moan, this is the first i ever recall india saying anything about the umpires, but then i only got into cricket a few years ago, i saw pakistans argument against hair and i am an indian fan but thought they were right, but you cant say that the sub continent teams are the only ones who moan, because really i reckon that umpires in general would be in favour of the other teams that have more favour with them and that in general, i am talking about the more developed country teams.

I definetly think that no umpires favour any team these days as they are liable to lose their place in the order regarding their livelihood. If only you knew the facts about what pressure they are under to get it right from their own organisation let alone the International boards.
It may seem that way when a home country gets a favourable decision but it is always a misjudgement not deliberate.

No I am saying only what has transpired in the past maybe they had good reason.
I kinda think if I was an Indian right now I would feel miffed but I also believe Bucknor was sacked because of poor judgement or inabilty certainly not home town bias as you guys seem to believe.
I think you have misunderstood me, yeh sure i am annoyed at bucknor for his incompetence but i am just saying that in general the aussies will always get favours, and again in general they will always be heavier at home, i reckon that those poor umpiring decisions were all down to bucknor himself, there is no team that has enough power to get ridiculous calls like that called in thier favour, those types of errors are all down to the umpire, and i am talking about the clear edge symonds found of ishant sharma, just to clarify at the moment.

I have been through that stage too. Whenever an Aussie was given in a close one I felt robbed. My wife who though not a Statistician but works in the game set up a programme on LBW's and caught at the wicket.
It soon became apparent that since the inception of neutral Umpires at least it was just swings and roundabouts with no country getting the benefit over the other. You must accept that a winning side takes more wickets and of course on that score alone gets more decisions.
I will bet you right now that if you keep a written check in the next two tests using OUT/NOT OUT/TOO DOUBTFUL TO GIVE. you will find it evens out.
How can a player be villified for walking. He is morally not a cheat. Those who justify NOT walking by saying that what about the decision that go the other way,..are WRONG.Dead wrong. That is the wrong attitude and will never be accepted by an honest player. Ra ra Gilly. If one is not a cheat that is who he is. He will never say what comes around goes around. Not ever. Team play is about adhesion and coherence and tolerence...not collectivley justified cheating.

If a batsman walks before the finger is raised he is cutting into his average chances of dismissal ie in 10 innings he walks twice. His ratio then becomes 8 chances in 10 rather than 10 chances in 10.
I don't see the Indians walking esp. Ganguly though I do admire Dhoni he never hesitates.
