As Sheikh said ball did not rise as Inzi expected. Pak should avoid follow on easily.

If Pak can avoid losing another wicket with new ball then they hav a chance getting near England's total.
Would have been good line up with Younis Khan at three and Faisal Iqbal coming at six - and Afridi let out of the team.

That's the end of day's play!

409/7!
Good day for PAK! M Yousuf.... By far the player of the day, what an innings under pressure! Having said ENG still have the slight edge.

Now let's play cricket......

It takes KP 16 balls to get his first Test wicket.

Collingwood has bowled 51 Test overs, and is still waiting.

It's a little bit like their respective Test careers. It came instantly for KP, Colly took a little longer to get going...it's a funny old game, as Jimmy Greaves almost said of cricket.

Good days play. MoYo was immense, Inzi too. Hopefully MY and Afridi can take Pakistan close to the English score.

One feels that if Eng have a lead of say 60, given Pak's line up's strength in depth in batting, they will play it causiously and perhaps aim to make sure Pak dont win before ensuring that they themselves do.

I was thinking exactly that as Inzi and MY were raking the runs up. HJ is a grade A clown.

It's hardly a mean feat to score runs on this pitch. Four centuries already, and barely a threat even from the new ball. The only way the good batsman have got out is to bad luck or stupidity. There certainly has not been a great knock in this game yet - just a nothing pitch that negates the point of actually playing any bowlers.

In the context of the inns, 80/4 facing 500+, its a masterful knock. Moreover, it has been utterly chanceless.

Pak created many chances in Englands first innings 5+ dropped catches so it's not difficult to create chances, MOYo's innings was a great knock taking his team from 60-4 to 400 is not easy theres a lot of presuure.

I was having a go at HJ because he/she said that no matter the circumstance these two would not score any runs in England.

Btw this pitch has some bounce and turn as Kaneria and Harmi showed if you put the ball in the right areas you will get results, a real dead pitch would be the ones that Pak and Ind played in the last series.

The pitch has plenty of bounce for bowlers who can make use of it - infact many of Pak wickets were due to the bounce. The pitch is also providing uneven bounce for odd ball.
No matter what the state of pitch is it takes discipline and technique to score big, especially for Mohd Yousaf who came in at 60-3 and with opposition who could afford attacking field, as they had plenty of runs to play with.

Good knock from Mo-Yo, but that wicket of Akmal swings the game England's way. Need some Afridi rockets tommorow morning and to cut England's lead to around 50. Good fighting effort though the pitch is still pretty flat and good for batting.

Day 5 will be very tough though, expect some uneven bounce and turn, seen flashes of that in day 3.

Still think Pakistan are staring down the barrell. With Flintoff to come back and no sign of good news it will be a tough series.

Expect Pakistan to be all out in the first hour on the fourth day. England leading by 100 runs will bat most of the day till the last hour, make a lead of 350+ and put Pakistan in.....

We're doomed !!

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED !!!

The question now is how much will England want to play with in the last innings?

One would imagine nothing less then 350, and should Pak bat out session 1 tomorrow, that would realistically mean approx. parity in 1st inns scores.

For Eng to make 350 would take several sessions, 3 perhaps, leaving Pak with 2 session to bat to save the game.

If the lead for E is c.50 on 1st innings, and E still want 300+, then Pak will have to realistically bat the last day for safety.

The way this game is heading it will be a draw. The wicket looks good to bat on. I feel England are missing Flintoff in this game for his bowling alone. Having said that Pakistan are missing some of there bowling attack also. The difference is that Flintoff is due back in the next test and Pakistan bowlers who are injured are more long term.

The only way I can see a win in this test match is if one team self destructs in the remaining two days. If England get the remaing 3 wickets quickly tomorrow and piles on the runs as well with the bat it will put a lot of pressure on pakistan on day 5 to bat it out. If Pakistan get closer to Englands first innings total and England struggle with the bat in their 2nd innings it could make day 5 pretty intresting.

The possitive thing for England is they probably wont bat on day 5.

I don't think a Pak win is out of the question. The England second innings has been poor all summer when put under pressure and the side is still full of inexperienced players.

It would be a long shot but something like Pak scoring 500 by lunch, England all out for 200 by stumps or early tomorrow, Pak get the runs 6 down late on Day 5 might be on the cards.

Have Pak got the bowling to skittle Eng for 200?

With a full strength line up, one would not doubt it, but with this attack...

JGK,

The odds on a Pak win have shortened dramatically. Still the least likey result, with draw a clear fave by the bookies.

The first session tomorrow is key for me.
