Am I the only person in the world who thinks that all this criticism of Prior is unfair? I mean, its not like he's as bad as Geraint Jones.

I think that all countries have 'national types' that we love to hate. Ganguly was hated by a lot of Indian fans because, IMO, he typified the street fighting, in your face aggression that, again IMO, many Indians don't like.

Maybe Prior's constant and aggressive chatter touches off some particular English nerve?

The odd dropped catch or substandard England performance and the focus goes straight on the keeper. England didn't lose the series because of Prior, they lost because Vaughan didn't force him the 1st Test advantage and ponced about so long the weather closed in. In the 2nd Test we didn't bat well enough 1st innings and last match we conceded too many runs but would unlikely have forced a win even if Prior caught everything once we lost the toss.

And anyone suggesting batsmen are there to bat, bowlers to bowl and keepers to keep should consider this of the batting order - the innings doesn't end at the fall of the fifth wicket. Everyone has to bat, if the bowlers weren't there to bat then they wouldn't be asked to!

I don't really see Matt keeping his England place too long, but he is a good honest cricketer, who i hope turns things around and gets back amongst the runs soon.

Well hes another South African, but if he cements his place into the team he could be Englands wicket keeper for years to come

i actually like prior but i still think Nixon is better, his sledging is of a much better class

last week for instance in the pro 40 his comment: "that went so deep it didnt come from your pockets was classic"

shame they dont give him a chance at test cricket but then your old once your past 34

It was completely pointless bringing Nixon into the side for the world up when the selectors knew that they were going to drop him when England got knocked out!!
