I think that the state teams should make one place available for a bangle or Zimbot as a development position...time servers such as goodwin, lehmann, arnberger, maher, nicholson, marsh should be bought off given development coaching roles and stand aside...

this would be a terrific contribution to the development of cricket in poorer countries...

At a press conference before a shield game in Vomitville , Lock wrote "A.V.A.P" on a blackboard behind him ....The last question of the day was what did the letters stand for ...."All Vic's are Pr!cks" was the reply ....

rofl he would know...after he was called for chucking he famously bowled in a shirt 2 or 3 sizes too big with billowing sleeves rolled down to the wrists

ROFL - priceless from a chucking Slurrey p*ick.

Read an article yesterday which claimed that when Laker bagged his 19 Aussie scalps at OT back in '56, he returned from the dressing room balcony adulations only to find that Lock had already packed his bags and left for London.
Miserable sod!

Benaud tells some risque tales dating from that particular series ... and that particular match.
Get the impression he didn't exactly take to the balding chucker!

Other visitors in the last 30 years or so (not an exhaustive list, just some I can recall):

Tasmanians first ...

Khalid Ibadulla (he stayed)
Rodney Cass
John Hampshire
Peter Lever
Richard Ellison
Franklyn Stephenson
Michael Holding
Rohan Kanhai
Brian Davison
Richard Hadlee
Jack Simmons
Peter Bowler (a huge flop)

WA

Colin Milburn
Vic Marks
Tony Lock
Ken McEwan
Martin McCague
Alan Mullally
Murray Goodwin
Sean Ervine
Andy Blignaut

SA

Younis Ahmed
Barry Richards
Gary Sobers
Joel Garner
Andy Flower
Carl Hooper

QLD

Rusi Surti (he stayed)
Ian Botham
Viv Richards
Kepler Wessels
Wes Hall
Graham Hick
Peter Cantrell

NSW

Imran Khan
Graham Thorpe
Andy Roberts
Michael Slater (a Martian, surely)

This doesn't include players like Craig White, Jason Gallian, the Hollioakes, and Symonds; who learned their cricket here after either arriving on the planet in another location or before they scooted off elsewhere.
