Many people (myself included) said he'd be one of the top run scorers for this series.
Got a few bad decisions but apart from that the Aussies all bowled v. well to him, starving him of his favourate shot (cut) all series, which seemed to really frustrate him. Still surprised by his lack of runs but.
had some bad luck early but i agree they bowled well to him, his poor hooking early seemed to dent his confidence and also cut down a vital shot for an opener in australia.
but still just a bad series for a class bat he probably has the least to prove of all that top 6.
Agree, he really is a class player. Three bad calls don't do the confidence any favours though. Nonetheless, the Aussie quicks did work him out and starved him of runs off his legs into the onside through the mid wicket region - his most profitable shot. He's also a sucker to the hook which he has not yet fully developed (as exhibited at Brisbane)!
Should have captained this series... No doubt whatsoever.
Guess that's all down to mindset and the Boss's call... "You go out there and take Lee/Clark/McGrath on with the bouncer and give it 'whatfor' - we need a senior player willing to volunteer " ... Strauss copped it.
It's not his natural shot and he seldom plays it unless well set behind big runs ...
