What does everyone think of Worcestershire and their rain? I agree with Yorkies that the decision to replay the game is wrong, I feel Worcestershire should be fined and docked points for mismanagement of the Kent game and I had to laugh at the stupidity of trying to play a four day game on a pitch when you desperately want it to be fit for a £££££ important game on the Friday!
I sympathise with Worcestershire over the weather, but they didn't do themselves any favours and made some stupid choices and Kent were rightly annoyed. I'd award Kent 12 points and give Worcestershire none - 12 points because that would be a draw with full bonus points
So now the Lancashire game has been abandoned i that to be replayed too or because the pitch was inspected are Lancashire going to be left fuming about it?
It shows a lack of sense within the ECB, New Road floods and it is very wet this summer. Obvious conclusion - if it rains for any length of time or rain is torrential then New Road will be unplayable. Basically New Road should be banned as a venue until it is proven to be as fit for play as other grounds under the same weather conditions. Why RISK playing at New Road? Why didn't Worcester simply relocate to somewhere else - or be forced to? They're losing revenue and cricket, so are their opponents.
I have felt for a while now the points system should be changed so that teams who lose a complete day to rain should gain a point each (on top of points for the result) It may not be perfect but if it is rained off completely then you would get eight points which would be four for a draw and four bonus points which is fair enough, perhaps just award each ten points or whatever the average gained in a normal draw is
