So let me post one. Big win against Northants over the weekend. Promotion almost guaranteed- esp with Kumble about to arrive. The 'rey juggernaut has had it's tyres changed and is rolling again- much like that big truck in the early Steven Spielberg film 'Duel'. Get off the road Middlesex or you'll get squished.

We played badly but you played very well indeed. It was embarassing though to lie down like we did. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the pitch, yet we stil lost 6 quick 'uns for no apparent reason. Abject disappointment after matching you on the first innings. Probably another season in the bottom div for us. Oh well, Pro40 and T20 it is then....

Is Ganguly really a good pick as an overseas player considering his previous stints? Surely there's an Aussie out there, who'll score twice the runs, cost half the price and probably be a bit more popular with his teammates?

He's been the consumate professional for us. Humble, taken responsibility on the pitch, improved gate receipts, quite well liked in the dressing room. He's also an all-rounder for us in the one-day arenas. He likes our pitch(usually). At the start of the season we had Chris Rogers who turned out to be a ginger lemon. I'm incredibly happy with his signing and hope he stays until the end of the season.

He's no longer in the test side so he can't walk around like a billy big b0ll0cks, as he probably used too.

Maybe he's realised that he's got to be professional to keep his job!

Think he's just trying his hardest. Is desperate to get back in the side. He's genuinely been faultless here in terms of personality. Just a shame he hasn't scored as many runs as I'd have liked.

Are you happy with Ganguly, G?

He certainly had a terrible outing against Surrey. Which are the matches where he has done well?

Guess he was up against the might of Surrey- tough for anyone - I'm sure he'll get some runs on the board eventually.

Chandan, he did as badly in the last FC match he played. But at the minute here in England, it's mainly 'one day season'. He's played 1 OD game and scored 71. He's also been a good opener in Twenty20, averaging around 30 and bowling really well - taken 10 wickets so far.

The reason it's a good signing for us in this respect is that we've been terrible at First Class cricket all of this year, our best chance of silverware is in the OD league and the Twenty20 cup - this is made more realistic with his signing.

Basil,

When? I see that Worcs haven't played a game last week. And they haven't started today either!!

I also see that Kumble is playing for Surrey in today's match. Is it his first match?

Embers must go - Middx have been hanging on in Div 1 for three seasons rather than challenging for the title.

A spell in the 2nd Div will shake them up a bit.

I was referring to the game earlier in the season when Worcestershire chased down 280 in 30 overs to win a game in the championship.
