Goodnight all. This series is over too soon, there should have been more days allowed between Test matches, it's all gone too quickly .......... Flippin heck 5-0, McGrath believed it would happen in 2005, but the Aussie God made him wait till 2007 in Australia .......... delicious irony?

Had it happened in 2005, we wouldn't have seen Warne get to 700.
Thankful for small mercies.

great way for warne, mcgrath and langer to go out. fitting end to an era of aussie dominance- its gonna be some time before we see a champion team of this calibre again. pretty sad that warne and mcgrath will never bowl in a test match again. just priveleged to see them, and the aussie team, in action.
expected 3-1, england will look back ruefully at adelaide.

Listening to the Ashes podcast, I can't believe how eloquent Flintoff is. He has a good line of chat. People from Preston are normally incoherent.
Therapy? made my ears hurt

Aye. And not just the Preston as in North-End. Bill Lawry comes from the Melbourne Preston. As far as the 'Oaf is concerned, I'm starting to wonder if he's going to be hung out to dry for his failure to make Chivers Regal out of dirty dishwater.

Will Warnie now concentrate on his other love - the serious poking of dead ringers of his ex?
PS. I prefer "Warney" to "Warnie" - but Niney doesn't.

I feel very emotional now, after watching the closing bit.

Aww I never thought I'd see a sensitive side from any Aussies.

Unfortunately i went out drinking last night and i missed the tear jerking finale to a one sided series, although in Walkabout they did show the game and i was only watching for a bit and saw the final wicket fall. Such a shame though but deep down you have to think that Glenn and Shane wanted a real good battle to end their careers. I think they will always feel a bit empty in their last test series in the sense that England gave no fight whatsoever. Well, if you want a competitive test series turn to SAF vs India, which is turning out to be a belter of a series. Good Bye Shane and Glenn, Thank You. Oh and Langer aswell lol
A Little Hard Work never killed anyone....but why take the chance?

Well worth waiting up for. Decent coverage after the game from Sky Sports i thought too. I thought it would be 3-1, 5-0 is an amazing feat especially with 4 players playing in their final series. Some are worried abot replacing those 4, i say we'll cope fine. 2009 will be ours too, just by a smaller margin.

Well played, boys. A fitting farewell to two of the greatest cricketers of all time, and of course the invaluable Langer. Personally, I'll miss Pidge more than Warnie - setting aside his magnificent bowling, I have grown very fond of Glenn as a person since he grew out of onfield tantrums 2-3 years ago. Lovely man by all accounts. The loss of Warnies batting will significantly reduce the entertainment involved in watching our tail bat. The lack of excitement a bit disappointing after 2005, but England tied their own arm behind their back with foolish selections and bizarre preparation. Surely Strauss or Vaughan must be captain for the WC?

PS - This series, in my opinion, has once again rammed home the need for some sensible use of the third umpire in a wider range of decisions. Yes, I do repeat myself.

If they only need 136, open with Pidge and Warney . . . or would be taking the mickey?
Might be a bit! TGMW, we never got the chance to let Warney get the winning runs but what a series and what legends we just said goodbye to! Maybe we don't even realise how lucky we have been to support this team at this time in history. I just hope we don't start rolling downhill now, should be ok.

Probably already been said, but a fitting finale for 3 Aus greats. Pidg getting the wicket that took Warney and his combined tally (when playing together) to 1000 and getting the final wicket (ala DKL), Warney taking 23 wickets in series (his favourite number), NLWL at the wicket when the winning runs were hit, and the Aus side sending 3 legends off with a 5-0 sweep of the most anticipated Ashes series ever.
Team effort was the key, 4 Aus players with over 350 runs (only one Pom), seven different century makers and all 4 Aus key bowlers getting 20 or more wickets (Eng best was Pigsy with 13). We shall not see the likes of this side again - EVER.

All the England players are coached on how to give interviews. All their words sound unnatural and scripted, especially Flintoff's.
