Im talking about established Test players, not unlucky first class batsmen who never played a test, or gifted youngsters who are just starting. My nominations would be Shane Warne, Chaminda Vaas, and Malcolm Marshall.

I've prepared for the worst case scenario ...but it could be even worse than that

Damn Wally, you know your cricket. Chetan Chauhan indeed.

BTW, I know the guy- he's pretty cool. Except when you ask him (as I did) why he never scored that ton.

I'd put Nicky Boje in this category. He's scored a couple of ODI tons as well.

Martyn Moxon - scored 99 vs NZ

Actually scored another 2 runs off his bat but the umps gave it as leg-byes!

Barry Wood made 90 (in his first Test- he made his top score - 78* - in his penultimate ODI). David Capel topscored with 98.

IIRC Jameson was run out in the 80's, on debut, by a straight drive from the striker and a deflection from the bowler's hand.

Michael Bevan.

He did play 18 Tests - enough to be more than an 'unlucky first class player'.

He made 6 fifties in those 18 Test but never went higher than 91.

Cheers.

Bevo is perhaps unique in that he filled the somewhat obscure position in the Aussie Test XI as the "oh carp, our skipper is batting like poo but we don't want to drop him so we'll pretend this guy can bowl and bring him in to prop up the batting" role.

Hey, he did take 29 wickets at 24.

If Tubby had continued his form slump for a bit longer Bevo might have taken 100 wickets Wink

Cheers.

Close. It was 10 in one test and he also made 85 not out.

So close to doing the 10 wickets/century double.

He had good time to make the ton mind you. From memory he faced over 250 balls in that innings.

Bev got stranded in the next Test at Perth as well making 87 not out.

Cheers.

Aye, twas one of the most boring innings I have seen on an Adelaide Oval featherbed. MtFTB scored his maiden Test ton in the same innings in one of the luckiest knocks ever. Dropped 5 times and caught off a no-ball twice. Then he went to Yarpietown where AD sorted him out and he was banished for years.

No matter how many times something is shown to be rubbish, some people just keep repeating it.
