Shane Warne was a bit unfortunate, I realise that he was not a proper batsmen, but apparently he was given an iffy decision on 99 against NZ and never came that close again, I always thought he deserved one, him and Kumble were still part of an elite group thought, to both now have taken over 600 wickets and over 1000 test runs I think it is.

My mistake I thin it was they both passed 2000 runs, but only warne did not score a century, Kumble got that brilliantly unexpected one at the oval i think it was, got a man of tghe match for his batting, it was briolliant.

He did play 18 Tests - enough to be more than an 'unlucky first class player'.
He made 6 fifties in those 18 Test but never went higher than 91.
Cheers.
He should have kept his place if only as an all-rounder offering a bit of variation. He was one of those unlucky sods who got a few bouncers too many and was decreed incapable of playing pace. Quite how bowlers can get away with bowling at a batsman's body so often when he's left trying to protect himself is a mystery, lack of protection from the ICC I guess. It would be like allowing strikers to throw themselves at the keeper and calling it fair game. The ball is a potential missile if targeted at a batsman, they supposedly introduced rules to stop bowlers bowling non-stop short stuff at fellow bowlers, but didn't stop the aussies targeting any tailender stupid enough to survive more than a dozen balls in 1993 (eg Caddick) and thereafter.
