In recent times at Lord's matches have turned up something interesting in terms of batting stats.
The average runs per wicket in the first innings is 32.8, in the second innings it's 33.1, in the third innings it's 34.3. Unfortunately for the fourth innings it goes down to 30.7
Without looking into it further, I'd be surprised if there werer many venues where those numbers incease across the first three innings. Happy to stand corrected, of course, but does that say it might be worth thinking about batting second?
