ME! I got the call from CA yesterday. They want me to fly out to start training for the World Cup, looks like ill be doing a Peitersen to Australia and opening with Gilly in the Windies. Lifes so tough
A Little Hard Work never killed anyone....but why take the chance?
Expect early season form next summer will have some influence.
Hayden might retire after the World Cup, which would render the debate somewhat moot.

With all these retirements in quick succession, it will be interesting to see if Australia can maintain their dominance over the next two years.
Magoo is an obvo shoe-in and Clark will help stabilise the seam attack. But both are fairly long in the tooth. are any young Aussie quicks ready? Tate didn't do much in the 2005 Ashes.

That way he'd be able to have a Gabba farwell without leaving in the middle of a series?
But I'd say he fancies getting stuck into the Indian attack on some flat pitches throughout the rest of the summer.
Cheers.
Only Matt would know what his plans are. Wouldn't be too surprised if he planned to hang around as long as Tugga and go on one more Ashes tour, wouldn't be too surprised if he goes in the next 12 months.
He needs 261 runs to reach 8000, and 3 tons to go past the Don. He would probably get both of those landmarks next summer if he played all the tests.

He's not having a great summer. I do like him though - him and Gump would be a good combo with the new ball IMO.
Looking at the raw stats, the top quicks in the PMC this summer seem to be Dizzy, Bic, Tait and Hilfenhaus. Guess Hilfenhaus would be the smart bet for the tests next year.

TAYPOC. He should stick to the limited overs stuff where he is most suited. We have much stronger bowlers in QLD and Tas that are more deserving of a place.
