Both really good, but T20 is really growing on me lately.

Twenty twenty is kindergarten stuff, just to see who can hit the ball the longest.

Yes but it fits into a three hour timeslot like Baseball.

Baseball is televised 7 days a week with up to ten games a day.

Soccer even more so throughout the world.

Eventually they will overcome the few problems involved in making the switch.

Apart from the two Indian leagues one yet to begin England has made some progress.

Even now ODI's are becoming passe and Test cricket though I love it could be threatened.

A substituting of t20 cricket for ODI's during a Test series may well be the future mainly because of the revenue increase and less time on the paddock for the players.

Workers would get to see a whole game and it would bring the kids back to Cricket.

Ridiculous, I love Test cricket and ODI, but I hardly think T20 can go that far so soon, dont get me wrong, I love it but ODI and TESTS are where the heart is.

I didn't mention a time frame.

Don't underestimate the power of the dollar.

t 20 is just so marketable at lest cost for larger profits.

Baseball is a slugfest but not noticeable as such simply because we are used to it being so. Look at the money involved in this short game.

Test Cricket will remain because of it's international clashes.

It is the ODD/ODI's that are threatened by 20/20.

One day cricket is also a slugfest in the last overs.

Too often games are over once the toss is made.

The minnows and lesser nations winning the toss and batting first against a good side can be all but decided in the first innings but if the same two sides were playing 20/20 at least it could well be worth watching.

hmm, you have a point there, I dont want the ODI format to go, but I guess if somethings faster and brings in more money then it may just.

No doubt there will be a long period where all three types will be played.

Tomorrows Chennai super kings v Rajasthan Royals game will be a beauty.

Luckily for Oz it is a day game or at least an early start. Though slight outsiders I will go for the Kings at home but Warnie's captaincy and bowling has been brilliant. Should be a grat game.

Here is the current table.

.....................................

Teams P W L Points Net Run Rate
Jaipur Rajasthan Royals 11 9 2 18 +0.950
Mohali Kings XI Punjab 11 8 3 16 +0.436
Chennai Super Kings 12 7 5 14 -0.209
Delhi DareDevils 13 6 6 13 +0.350
Mumbai Indians 11 6 5 12 +0.663
Kolkata Knight Riders 13 5 7 11 -0.167
Bangalore Royal Challengers 12 3 9 6 -1.317
Hyderabad Deccan Chargers 11 2 9 4 -0.463

So you are saying 20/20 is a slugfest. I agree. Thats all it is. Something for the kiddies.

Yes maybe it lacks the beauty of test cricket but there are an awful lot of "kiddies" out there watching the IPL series in India.

Unbelievable money paid in attendance and tv rights. It must be good for Cricket as a whole which was ailing.
Let's be pragmatic and support this Messianic endeavour.

I am already longing for 20/20 and dread the thought of England playing 5 long boring 50 over games against NZ.yet I still love tests matches and would not want to see them put in danger.

What ruined 50 over games for me was when they swapped to white balls and coloured clothing. In English conditions the ball started to dominate too much and often sides are 30-3/40-4 and then its tap ,tap tap until the last 10 overs. This does not seem to happen in 20/20 but then perhaps this is because they only play for 2 weeks in mid summer so conditions are better.

I do see 20/20 gradually replacing all 50 overs games sometime though.

NO WAY, coloured clothing and balls are good and 50 over cricket is till amazing, albeit obviously slower then T20, but the love of cricket is still there.

He He.

I bet you have colourful pyjamas to wear to bed as well Big Grin

Me, I wear plainish boxers in summer and nondescript coloured tracksuits in our short Qld winter.

Saves changing clothes too early in the cool mornings as I stroll out to get the papers.

Our cool winter mornings are about 12 degrees celsius max. In the sunshine coast hinterland summer temps are lower because of our 700m altitude and the night temps even in high summer rarely require artificial cooling.

I discovered halfway through life that such places are rare and climate was important to happiness.

BTW.

You can put a broomstick in the ground here and in five years you will have a tree. (fair dinkum Wink

Check out the Qld Sunshine Coast and hinterland on your PC.

Back to the topic I do have a Maroon tracksuit to wear while watching the Rugby.

Goswami is out going for the slog so while we are on delay they are three for bugger all.

Sachin is running around like a youngster patting his team on the back.

What a great guy he is even to play since his team has lost the finals.

Possibly he will go down as the greatest cricketing gentleman sportsman ever.

I idolise

his pride and dedication throught his career.

In Warne's book Shane tells the story of Sachin deliberately scuffing up the nets outside leg stump and having all and sundry bowl into the rough for hours on end prior to the Aussie visit.
As a result he battered Warne during the series and won it for India.

Getting back to Warne Autobiography he rated Tendulker as the hardest batsman he ever bowled to including the aussies.

Then he rated Hayden Mark Waugh and many others internationals as great batsmen he has bowled to.

He stated that Lara was his bunny more or less and was far too inconsistent even though he could play brilliantly at times if the conditions suited.
