Mine would be,

Farhat
Malik
Youhanna
Inzi (he should bat at no.4 because thats where a team's best bat bats at)
Younis
Razzaq/Afridi (depending upon the pitch, though I think Afridi would be more handy because of English batsmen's perceived weakness against leg spin)
Akmal
Kaneria
Asif
Gul
Sami (No choice, would've to play him, now that both Rana and Shoaib are unavailable)

And did anyone notice about Pak's extremely weak tail?

Atleast 3/4 would struggle to put bat on ball and only Sami can actually be somehow expected to make some runs, atleast that's what I think of them. It means all the more pressure on Pak's top and middle order.

Since the retirement of Wasim Akram, Pakistan have always struggled with a long tail...

I think Razzak and Afridi both might play to strengthen the lower order as 4th & 5th bowler or they might take another batsmen instead of afridi as they already have fifth bowler in Malik. But I dont see Razzak playing as a fifth bowler Pakistan dont trust their batting line up enough to go with just five bats

I agree with the team! I will A Razzaq instead of Afridi!

Rana and Shoaib's injury is a double blow because both men are fairly decent tailenders.

I think there's a case for them playing both Afridi and Razzaq and leaving out one of the seamers, possibly Sami.

I think they might miss the two injured bowlers a lot, especially in the first test, though the injuries even out those England have suffered. I think it fixes to be a decent contest on the whole, with great difficulty in picking a clear favourite.

My prediction - if England can pip the Pakistanis in teh first test, they'll take the series 3-1. If not, a defeat by a similar margin.

I've high regards for Pak team, but I doubt even they themselves think that they can win 3 tests in Eng.

We don't need to win 3 tests to win the series.

I doubt this will happen though. Sami will play for sure, I think.

Yep, Akram was such a handy 'tailender'. Imagine one of your tailenders scoring 257* studded with 12 sixes (I think) and don't forget Zim's bowling those days was quite handy!!!

Probably they wouldn't have thought that six months ago but having seen the way England struggled to kill off what arrived as a weak Sri Lankan side and noting the lack of Freddie, SiJo and Virgil, they will surely be emboldened. If they were to sneak the first test, I see no reason why their confidence wouldn't skyrocket.

Aren't we discussing test cricket here and IMO Eng were way ahead of SL in 2/3 tests.

SL thrashed England in Tests? Confused I thought it was one all and we should've won the First Test but throughout the series there was a lack of professionalism?

Also, Mo Sami is a must I think. Yes, I've slated him and rightfully so but think he adds more variety to the attack.

I think given we've had a fair amount of hot weather I'm guessing the Lords pitch will be a belter, it certainly was when Sri Lanka were in town.

Hence I would not play both Afridi and Razzaq in the side and go for the specialist (if you can call Sami that !!!).

I'd like to see Salman Butt in the side but can't see him being selected.

Hence

Imran Farhat
Shoaib Malik
Younis Khan
Mohammed Yousuf
Inzamam Ul Haq
Kamran Akmal
Abdul Razzaq
Mohammed Sami
Umar Gul
Mohammed Asif
Danish Kaneria

Yes the tail is weak but as Lords is a belter the top order should hopefully score the bulk of the runs.

Umar Gul may be the one to miss out to Afridi if Woolmer has his way.

shoaib is just a speed star whoz actual worth is seen on those flat tracks of sub-continent where the only weapon to get a batsman out is pace and thts y i think he was such a difference in tht pak vs england series played in pak
moreover,i think these are bowlers like asif, gul who excel usually in english conditions and since asif has already proved it in srilanka, where there was no shoaib or rana ,therefore i think u shouldnt be tht disappointed by pakistan!

No, I don't really know. Different team will be playing and we'll be playing a format of the game that we are better in.
