I love listening to Bill Lawry. I love listening to Richie. I don't mind Tubs or Chappelli (only in small doses though). I found the Pommie commentary through the 2005 ashes was the most grating and annoying part of the telecast. Hearing Boycott drone on and on about "eff they'd juust bat sensibley" was enough to drive a perfectly sane person crazy.

TV : Chappelli and a repetitive Botham.
Bill Lawry has grown on me though - his high-pitched enthusiasm is infectious as is Bumble's hilarity and mischievious baiting of others!

I can’t stand Cosier. What is he doing in New Zealand anyway?
Holding is probably the best commentator.

Botham and Holding and Lawry are the worst.
Lloyd and Coward are two I forgot who are good.

Agree with your worst. Holding is ok but whinges all the time and is wrong even less often than Botham and Chappelli

I enjoy Damien Fleming's commentary ... mostly, except when he's trying to tell an amusing anecdote. Bob Massie, too. Roebuck veers from worthy to cringeworthy. Blofeld was the worst ever.

Barry Richards......the only commentator more annoying than him is Aussie a**e kissing Mark Nicholas

"So are there any commentators anyone likes?"
Atherton, Manjrekar, Hussain, Slater, Gower, Benaud.
Oh, and Robin Jackman for sounding (And looking) like the dear old alcoholic Uncle thats always drinking by himself in the corner of the garden during a family gathering.

Some of the South African commentators are pretty lame.
Channel 9 is generally pretty good (apart from all the adverts) - Ian Chappell is worth listening to and Ritchie Benaud is a legend.
Sky Sports have Mikey Holding and Athers who are great but then there's always lots of whinging from the likes of Botham, Willis and Allott to put up with as well.
Thought Kerry O'Keefe was pretty amusing on ABC and most of the others did a good job apart from Roebuck, who must be the campest commentator ever. He also suffers from the Mark Lawrenson disease of making a blindingly obvious point and presenting it as if he has made some astute and earth-shattering revelation.

Ian Bishop is very good ... people always think of Holding, but forget Bishop.

Forgot about Bishop too.
Actually apart from Mikey, I like all the Windies commentators. Great voices to listen to and they have an appreciation of the game's history and culture.

That won't last. I'd give it until the end of the season. That's about how long his novelty value usually stretches out. When he's actually talking about cricket he can often be astute and even, occasionally, humorous. The rest of the crap he carries on with is about as funny as a dose of food poisoning.

Don't remember ever hearing Bishop but most of the other WI commentators have been very good, including that female one from 1999, Dana Simmons?

Mark Nicholas wins the most annoying commentator contest hands down. He also once described Saqlain Mushtaq as 'the 2nd best off-spinner in the world' behind Robert Croft... Murali only had about 200 test wickets at the time. Laxman Shivamakrishnan is pretty annoying too, as is Henry Blofeld. Aggers is also terribly wet, a real old woman. I like all of Sky's commentary team, although i'd say Gower and Lloyd are the best. Boycott and Benaud are always good, same with Lawry and Greig. Tony Cozier, Robin Jackman are good too, and Bruce Yardley and Jeremy Coney are excellent on the rare occasions they're in a commentary box.
The Ashes came home, now they're off to Convict Country once again

Christ there are so many of them. The worst are those that sit on the fence.
Ps - Holding is a great cure for insomnia.
