410 runs @ 82.00 after Ramps remained undefeated on 120 off 228 balls, against an attack including Dale Steyn. 3 tons in 4 matches - Ramps is a legend.

This week, the great Mark Ravin Ramprakash (who we all know is better than the Don) remained unbeaten on 266 not out against Sussex, hammering Mushtaq Ahmed and Naved-ul-Hasan all over the park. He has now amassed 676 runs @ 135.20, and it's only the 19th of May. Fantastic stuff.

Surely he'll be the token player of asian appearance for the second test with form like that.
More power to him.
Big Love!

Bump. Just don't want to have to look too hard when Ramps is pummelling the Irish this weekend.

Ramps stood alone for Surrey today against Kent, last man out after compiling a 5-hour 108 as the rest of the team folded feebly to an innings defeat. As of June 3 he has scored 819 runs @ 117.00 this summer, and is well on track to be the first Englishman to score 2000 runs in consecutive summers since the reduction in county championship games in 1993. 5 centuries in 6 matches... genius. Where have all those 'it's only second division attacks' forummers who were rubbishing him last year gone?

This is the best part of Leo's post. Slurrey have failed to win a CC match in their six so far.

No question at all that they'd still be in the second division without Ramps. Probably headed back there, if not this year then just as soon as he gets bored with this. You'd have to think it's getting him down a bit.

Like Lara carrying WI for so long.

There is a suggestion in today's Daily Mail that RampraCash has been tapped by Geoff Miller (aye, that same Miller of England selector fame) about a possible return to the England team (at the ripe old age of 37)! Now if that ain't pushing the boat out in favour of OAP's muscling out potential young future England batsmen ... if true, then I'd suggest Miller stick to after dinner speaking at which he does excel! Anyone got Graeme Hick's telephone number?

At whose expense I would like to know? If Strauss were to be dropped - surely MPV would move up to open with Cook with Bopara at the head of the queue for a middle order berth. And it can only be a matter of time before before Tresco makes a comeback.

Precisely! Miller merely speaking to RampraCash gives out the wrong signals to the younger batsmen hopeful of a call up .. and further, it makes a mockery of their youth policy and 'staying faithful to the proven XI' ... which they go to great lengths to stress.

If he can do the job, why not?

I thought Red Duster was County Player . . . and possibly Bowled Shine?

Theres no way Ramprakash will be recalled. We dont need him. We've scored over 500 2 Tests in a row. Where can he fit in? Besides, there are youngers batsman knocking on the door, like Shah, Bopara, Denly, Joyce, Hildreth etc.

I thought Ramps should have been on the Ashes tour, but talking of selecting him now against two relatively ordinary bowling attacks seems somewhere between odd and just plain silly. Goochie may have played brilliantly in the Ashes at age 39, but it would be very short-term thinking. I would of course be delighted (while thinking it silly) but it seems implausible at best.

I have been saying for some time now that Ramps should play for England, but only against Australia, in the way that Peter Willey was brought back against WI only.

Quite right. Besides for the first time ever we have a top 7 that all average over 40 in test match cricket - something that Ramps could not do. If and when Flintoff gets fit we will even be forced to drop one of them. The only case for recalling Ramps would be if say Vaughan and Strauss both got injured on the eve of a series against Australia and even then I wouldn't pick him.
