So, here we are at the end of D3T1. India won a good toss, batted first and have got to 254/3 in 90 overs at 2.82. The series is leveled 1-1 and there is everything to play for. Daryll Cullinan and Robin Jackman are crooning on TV as to how the day belonged to SA. I am not sure I agree (although I think India lost one more wicket than I would have liked). Seeing the way the pitch is puffing up dirt every ball I think this was a good effort. Should India have put more on the board..heck yeah...but looking at the overall situation and the batting to come I think this is a great platform to build from. Let's face it, the Indian batting isn't in great nick (and lets face it they ain't Australia to score at 4 a day). Even so, Harris was bowling a leg stump line, Dale Steyn started the day with balls well left alone and Pollock was as miserly as ever. Barry Richards made a very good point that although the economy rates looked really good, the bowlers needed to make the batsman play a lot more. At the start of play today if someone had told me that India would be 254/3 at the end of the day I would have gladly taken it.
