So far CP has displayed a thick skin, which should serve him well here.

I'd like an answer to my earlier question, CP, if that can be managed without compromising anonymity.

Sorry but for anyone to go round and say they are superior in all things cricket than the rest of us irks a lot of people.

Despite repeated requests to demonstrate that higher value we have seen nothing.

Scepticism?? Talk the talk, cannot walk the walk.

The wickets are something of an unkown quantity, many being newly laid.

If they play slow and a bit low SA may be disadvantaged on both batting and bowling fronts. Oz may struggle a bit more with their big strokeplayers who like pace. BLee's pace may be nullified and seen as tasty pies.

If the wickets are unsettled as a result of being newly laid then there may be a lot of gripping low-scoring matches.

I think ATM the WC is as wide open as it could be.

The wickets are a real puzzlement to me. I am from Trinidad in the WI of course and to think that WI since the lory days of the 70's/early 80s have never had wickets conducive to their style of players. Even with Walsh, Bishop and Ambrose in their prime, the wickets were always somewhat slow. Now, consider that WI has called on NO specialist spinners for the team , that doesnt lead me to think that the wickets will be for spin. However, I know the grouds well enough to know that they are enever aprticulalry hard or fast pitches.

Concerning the classification of WI as minnows? I really dont see how this can be. Yes we have been woefully inconsistent in tests, but the team is a bit better at one days. Plus, we have a pretty good batting lineup once they can gel. Solid upper order batsmen, and the unkown quanitity in this young man Kieron Pollard in the middle. Hes a HUGE hitter, basically a Shahid Afridi with aim.
You have to consider the depth of the windies batting, yes we have a bob tail I think if the upper order batting holds up we should be fine. Chris gayle, marlon samuels, lara at 3, or sarwan, then chanderpaul, pollard, bravo , thats 7 accomplished batsmen in any order that they see firt. Hopefully the tail can put on just 10 runs each...

Quite the shame if off at university in Florida and will miss the lot of it! Horrible! Any of you know any good free streaming sites that I can watch it online though?
I really need to see some of these games
Thanks

A Yorkie brought up in Aus playing for Derbyshire, might explain his "thick skin". Wonder if LLL knows more about him?

WGAF.
The guy's okay - he has decent views on cricket though sometimes a wee bit nauseatingly cowtowing to the Aussies and patronising (eg. "I told you we'd lose the Ashes heavily" ) but, he holds his corner well.

Perhaps he should have kept silent about what he did for a living, as that does open up a can or worms for the needlers... nevertheless, no need for for the 'hatred' nor bile ...

Yeah, I personally thought he wasn't because the statement his name made. Someone like Neil Fairbrother didn't do that.

Got nothing against him, as you say he contributes and doesn't get invovled in the badness like almost all of the rest of us. I just didn't personally think that calling yourself that and then being cagey about it is a bit silly.

Not the first time. There was a bloke on here a year ago or so who claimed to be a Lancy player- but he denied being every member of the Lancy squad......

In a nut shell.

He invited it on himself really, whether it be fair or not. As you say you can't say your a CC player, tell people they dont know what their talking about, and then when pulled up upon it not tell people why you thin k your views are superior.

All true- trying to give his posts more gravitas I suppose.

Although he is a decent poster anyway, so didn't need to so do.

No idea, and to be honest I haven't given it much thought, if any.

He'll be a journeyman CC player though I reckon.

Well Danny, thankyou for the career advice!Big Grin

Well he's got to be a journeyman, as he's not gone abroad over the winter to play cricket. Most Journeymen stop doing that after they realise its a career, and they wont really go to the top level.

Don't greatly care to be honest Danny- anyone who plays for Derbyshire doesn't qualify as a cricketer anyway.....
