Some of us only missed our true vocation (Test cricketer) because of a congenital and total lack of talent, and/or a lack of binocular vision; not a lack of enthusiasm or application.

Perhaps we should all have logged in as:

Sales Clerk level 3
tax investigator
Bondi lifeguard
shoe salesman
between jobs
supply teacher
pie vendor
barman

... according to our occupation, just to avoid confusion?

Internet forums can be and are actually just about the entire world for some folks. There are psychological and sociological reasons for that

Accoring to Indian bookies who will be operating bets between India, Pak, Sharjah and Dubai Aus and SA are the favourites for finals at 1 and 2. Next up are WI and SL. Followed by India, NZ, Eng and last Pak.

The Indian bookies are not even willing to give India a chance in the semis, let alone the finals. They don't think India will make the cut.

Also despite the WC a mere 20 days away, there is no enthusiasm for India this time for the first time since they last won it 23 years back. The WC this time and it's build up seems to be a damp squib with interest levels really low among viewers. Should India not give a good account of itself, the sponsors for the first time face the prospect of losing on their investment with more and more TV viewers not catching up on cricket matches on TV.

Pakistan are least favoured?

Might be a good bet, IMO.

I'm still here Warnie ol' son.
Leaving on the 12th April for the Barbados super 8's - staying at the Fairmont.
My invitation to CP to meet at the Frank Worrell Stand Bar was resoundly rejected ... I can only suspect by doing so he'd blow his cover of actually being a 4th XI Northants skivvie. Wink

A few shekels on NZ (6/1) to reach the Final might yield some each way returns.

I would like a non-cocky (well, sides that aren't being obvious with their cockiness) side to win. Rules out Aus, SA, NZ (cockiness of the commentators) and possibly WI.

The rest are ok.

I'd put a few on NZ to lose their SF

Back Australia or South Africa, NZ and Sri Lanka possibly to make up the semis

Right now the form would indicate that these 4 teams will be the Semi-finalists.

However if Ind come through their Group they will have had to have beaten SL and thereby have an extra points over the Lankans.

Also in Group A either SAf or Aus will have lost and start the Super 8s behind the 8-ball.

The West Indies also have home ground advantage and will have a points advantage over either SAf ir Aus and probably SL. They've looked faily ordinary but nobody will take them likely - especially as they were finalists in the ICCCT.

They will have to beat Ireland first in their last group match. Luck of the Irish, inconsistency of the the Windies...

Greatest Test XI:
Hobbs, Hutton, Bradman (c), Ponting, Tendulkar, Sobers, Gilchrist (wk), Hadlee, Muralitharan, Barnes, McGrath

Greatest ODI XI:
Jayasuriya, Gilchrist (wk), Ponting, Richards (c), Tendulkar, Hussey, Klusener, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Muralitharan, Garner

Being back in England since the previous week might also have had something to do with it, RD. Roll Eyes
You can surely tell that you're doing something well worth doing in your working life when people cannot believe it. That feels good to be honest. Must sign out, do have fun.
