One of the Great county batsmen full stop. He's having an old school career.

Ere B@z, what do you reckon, Hicky for the Twenty20 World Cup? He's a cracking T20 batsman, still not bad in the field...

I'd pick him - come to that I would have had him the World Cup squad. Won't happen though I'm afraid.

Agreed, we wont even send out a proper Twenty20 team Disgrace.

Cleo should be thinking of Hick each night before shut eye, not Ramps. Since Ramps is a poor mans Hick.

Still needs another 4454 runs to go past Don Kenyon's record aggregate for Worcestershire.

Nobel prize for Allan D for not posting something with more than a million words.

Class Al, I'll give you that. But everything else you've said has been carp.

If you include 20/20, which I guess you have to these days he's only about 4500 runs behind Gooch for all time leading run scorer.

Allan has forgotten more about cricket than you will ever know.

He never did get that Ashes ton...

Guess I'll play the pedant, it's Graeme not Graham. And well done to him.

I wonder how many runs players like Ranji, Hammond and Denis Compton would have made if they had played 20/20 and OD cricket.

If it was at the expense of the massive number of FC matches they played in those days, then I suspect even less.
Which makes Hick's record all the more remarkable.
BTW - Ramps is closing in on 30,000 runs.

What makes it more amazing is that he's played almost half of his FC matches at New Road, which is by all acocunts a seamer's paradise.

Our piches have traditionally offered generous assistance to seam bowlers, but I'm not so sure about this season judging by some of the scores, which have been posted.

The players of old played regularly in Sunday benefit matches, the OD cricket of their time, in addition to playing 2 CC matches per week as well as Test Matches and these largely do not appear in the record books. It has been estimated that Hobbs made 214 centuries in all cricket comfortably passing the 200 mark which he strived so hard, but failed, to achieve at FC level but I agree Hick's performance as a run-getter is remarkable. Unfortunately central contracts will undermine the FC career run aggregate figures as an indication of greatness.
