Faisal,

There are many but these performances can't be given too much of importance because they are diluted like hell and we don't even know what kind of pitches they are played on. Few matches end in less than 7 sessions and few don't get even first innings completed in 4 days.

So it is really hard to say much about it.

I see...we were having a similar problem in the patron's trophy this year. I think one of the teams got bowled out for 40 and still almost managed to win the game defending less than 100...that's just one example of a lot of such matches.

I just wish I could know how the Indian U-19 team is doing in NZ. I'm unable to find any report whatsoever!

There are 3 good bowlers in that team:

Ishant Sharma
Vijay YoMahesh
Abu Nacheem Ahmad

come on Chandan that's not that much even i can bowl at 87-88!

I am not sure that Indian Cricket does not need your pessimism as much as it doesn't need mine Chandan. Just some food for thought?

Is Itshan Sharma as good as Ishant Sharma? Not sure about Itshan Sharma but Ishant Sharma looks the real deal...

what india needs is a talent coming into the team out of nowhere, like malinga for srilanka. nobody in srilanka knew who he was until they were pleasently suprised.

Ishant has played one season of Ranji as well. So I'll be happy if they blood him this year some time.

Then we'll have,

Zaheer
Sree
Munaf
Pathan
VRV &
Ishant

6 bowlers can be rotated properly to avoid burn out and injuries too.

Tall, strong, quick and has a great degree of variation.

Surely he must be one for the future for India.

Isnt that what everyone was saying about Munaf Patel at the same age? These days, Munaf is a carthorse who struggles to clock 130 kph. I still think Munaf is a good young bowler, but I think he needs to work a lot harder to make the most of his talent.

Sharma will have to keep working extremely hard and not get seduced by the rewards of becoming a top Indian Cricketer.

munaf is gonna go the same way as nehra, he is just as lazy and injury prone. another 18 months or so and thats the last we'll hear of him

Munaf with his full runup generates pace without any drama like Nehra.
As for injuries he will be ready when he feels confident in himself. You can't force him to bowl like the 3rd test at Cape Town.

Sorry Buck.

You just can't remove Pathan because he'll be back. Notice, I haven't removed your pet VRV either because I think he can improve and have a good future.

Ofcourse Pathan has promise...I meant in current form that pace lineup minus Pathan is comparable to the West Indian all-time greats like Holding, Ambrose, Marshall, Garner, & Roberts.

Munaf & Ishant provide pace. Zaheer provides left-arm swing, Sreesant provides seam movement and VRV gets bounce.

To think of it, folks on here last month were making fun of Indian fast bowling. lol

Ishant puts U-19 team on top

MUMBAI, Jan 23: Ishant Sharma has clearly put behind the fiasco surrounding his sudden selection and rejection for Indian’s tour of South Africa.

The lanky Delhi paceman, a World Cup 2007 probable, is leading the Indian under-19 attack in New Zealand and is currently pressing home the advantage for the colts with an inspired spell of bowling.

Sharma took 5-55 as India made the hosts follow-on on the third day of the first Test of the three-match series at the -Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Christchurch.

In reply to India's impressive 499-8 declared, New Zealand's under-19 team was bowled out for 302 and were staring at a possible defeat with a day's play to go.

New Zealand were struggling at 77-3 when stumps were drawn.

The Indian under-19 team is likely to have a masterclass with the legendary former New Zealand all-rounder Richard Hadlee.

The Kiwi great visited the ground to watch the colts in action, but could only meet the Indian coach Lalchand Rajput.

Hadlee, a NZ selector, may speak to the Indian boys during the course of the series.

The focus of his interaction is likely to centre around the art of the bowling on flat pitches.

Brief Scores

INDIA : 499-8 dec (Ravi Teja 105, Virat Kohli 113, Piyush Chawla 119, Yo Mahesh 61, A Rahini 49; George Worker 2-69)

NEW ZEALAND : 302(Andrew de Boorder 87, Bradley Cachopa 60, Corey Anderson 32 no; Ishant Sharma 5-55) & 77-3 (Kane Williamson 50 batting)
