I'd probably retain the same side except Munaf/Pathan for VRV.

If Munaf is fit,he HAS to play instead of VRV.

Yes. I don't want this guy in the team. He is a terrible batsman on a pitch which has even little bit of help for the bowlers, and is an atrocious fielder as well.

He has to be replaced.

Is Munaf fit or not? If not then how far away from fitness is he? Will he be fit for Durban?

Irfan, Wasim haven't met yet:Chappell

I wonder why Pathan is so shy to approach Wasim Akram!! We saw that Sree had a chat with Donald before the 1st test started and discussed with him about the lengts to bowl on the Wanderers pitch.

Why can't Pathan discuss his problems with Wasim?

I'd probably replace Sehwag with Gambhir too. Not gthat i expect Gambhir to do much better, but the management needs to push a point across to Sehwag about his attitude and his performance for so long now[???]. Despite losing his vic-captaincy he seems like he won't learn the way Zaheer, Yuvraj and Ganguly did until they were dropped.

I'm not a big fan of Jaffer either. He seems unable to play the seaming ball esp when on the front foot. But I guess after his performances in the WIs he deserves one more test.

Personally, I'd like to see Dravid open. It would be interesting to know how many times over the years, whilst batting at number 3, Dravid has come to the crease within 10 overs (i.e. when the openers have fallen cheaply). The first test for example, he played the role of de-facto opener anyway.

Strange, even during the odi series, Akram voiced his suprise that Pathan hadnt asked him for advice. Not that its going to change him overnight, but it wont do any harm.

With Jaffer, Dravid is opening virtually in every tests, at least on pitches which are not dead flat. So why not have Dravid opening, though it is dangerous ploy!!This way we'll be able to accomodate Pathan in the side too.

Because both of them know what is really wrong !

And Wasim Akram being the smart cookie that he is doesn't want to play any part in the 'low point in Pathan's career' especially after a hyped up and overpublicized coaching session with Pathan.

Previously Akram had 'helped' Pathan when he was at the highest point in his career !

Did you read the article that I've posted? Wasim himseld offered the help to Pathan during ODIs. It is Pathan who is not approaching him.

Tendulkar showed signs that he was returning to form. Hopefully this will continue next test. When SRT and Sehwag start to fire, India will be a potent test force...

We need all our batsmen to fire. I'm a little concerned at Dravid who took really bad body blows in the 1st test.

I wonder how SA will come back from the nightmare about the Wanderers. Is Dale Steyn injured? If yes then they can replace him with Charl Langevelt and play Rudoiph instead of Amla.

Now let's play cricket......

I'm sure that SA will come back hard at India at Durban. It'll be interesting to see how India does then!

I'd keep Jaffer in the team, retain the winning combo as much as possible. Moreover, I still think Jaffer could pull off a good knock in these conditions, think he is quite a solid bat.

He is a solid bat but only on flat tracks. And Durban is NOT going to be flat as SA will try to win it desperately.

Don't you think it is a bit surprising that these two worthies can't even meet.

Obviously Mr. Wasim is all talk and no action. He is cold to meeting Pathan and is making lame excuses.

Pathan's real problem is not his action...he is suffering from an injury to the rib muscle for some time now...and those types take a while to cure. Pathan is being persevered in the team until then.

Pathan knows that and Akram know that and they are just into this dog & pony show to divert attention.

Ok Buck. You seem to know things which others don't.

You thought that Wasim Jaffer would be a success in SA.

You thought that VRV would intimidate South African batsmen..... and now this...!!! Roll Eyes

I was wrong about Jaffa. He seems to be stuck.

VRV will come good, he just needs to be persevered with.

And he only got tonked when he came around the wicket against the leftie Prince. His radar too was not aligned today.

It happens !

btw I am in favor of Munaf playing the next match and not VRV.

If Munaf is not fully fit...then fly him back home and bring in Ishant Sharma or YoMahesh.
