Playing in such a long stretch in two huge series away from home I give them 9/10.

They don't just have the audience at home they have the talent to be number one.

This from a dinkum Aussie.

Obviously the baloney about them not handling Australian pitches can now be laid to rest.

Yeah but the Aussies are at their weakest when it comes to their bowling attack.

Yeah, they've done really well this year. Think it's to do with some pacemen finally stepping up to the plate.

Agree.....given their worst ever world cup last year India have bounced back well to win the tests in England, win the 20/20 World cup and give Australia a close run(the tests should have been 1-1 really)and who knows Australia despite being first to qualify for the finals may yet lose to India in the finals of the CB series (like last year!!)

Heres hoping, India did well to try and chase that huge total the aussies maded, gambhir played beautifully as did Uthappa, now if they were only consistent now for a long time, I reckon India would definately be set for the future and also could give the aussies a good run fg keeps onor thier money in the future. Ponting keeps on banging on about how india will be badly hurt from the losses of thier big foure , 5 if you include Kumble, but its not like the Aussies are exactly full of youth at the moment, take away Ponting, Gilchrist and Hayden, not to mention Hussey and that could still do some serious damage to them, but then like india they are looking good for the future, with Johnson coming through brilliantly, and lee on the form of his life.

This current Indian ODI team is far younger than the Aussie team and why can't most of them become test players? Name a few likely ones?

Dhoni sees himself as a revivalist and I see him as a future test Captain

Ponting has it the wrong way around I fear.

Name a few likely ones

You've lost me A John, WHy cant which teams odi players become test players, if you are talking about India which I assume you are then they can, but its probably just that ganguly is in the form of his career and cravid tendulkar and kumble can still all play so there is no room for the new guys. When thye retire however, R sharma, Uthappa, Gambhir, they are all definate possibles for the Indian test team.

We are saying the same thing.

It's just that there was a call to retain Laxman at least for the CB series but Dhoni wanted his young squad.
His plan apparently is to have these guys ready for test cricket when the senior players retire.

Good thing too, I like that plan as it could hurt india less if thier transition to the young test team is smoother with gradual new guys coming as the older ones leave in about 6 months of each other, may be a year.

this is indeed a good unit with a fair balance in all departments. Batting side is a bit iffy though with Rohit Sharma reminding one of on-again off-again ways of Lara.

Congratulations India especially Dhoni. Truly an inspirational skipper!.

As for Ponting when he took off Hopes and replaced him with Lee he lost us the series.

One of many Ponting errors this series.

He is simply not a one day Captain.

I thought he was quite a good captain as shown by his records, this loss just serves him right, he is a good captain as shown by his stats, i rekcon that this recent rebelliance against the bullying aussies is simply other teams finally realiszing that the aussies are not unbeatable and are finally doigns something about it, ponting is still a good captain i think, he is just a terrible ambassador for the game.
