We haven't had one of these for a bit, so what the hey.

I'm reading a curious tome entitled 'The Wisdom of Donkeys' in which the author,a chap named Andy Merrifield, saunters casually around the Auvergne in central Francewith a donkey, musing idly on the whys and wherefores of things.

While hisconstant worship of the placid donkey as a philosophising genius seems a trifle insane, given that the critter is simply fulfilling its genetic imperative to browse as it wanders about, it does provide a bit of an antidote to the insanity of commuting here in London village.

So if you like to mix philosophy, France and, er, braying mammals, perhaps this is the summer book for you.

I have read most of her books. They are excellent.

Currently I am reading a book called "Lucy In the Sky" - it is total pulp fiction but suits my head because my concentration levels are not great. I was reading some of this book whilst I sat through the night by my dad's bed in hospital in his last two nights. Therefore it will always be special. Not a great book but a special book.

The Tenth Circle was the first of hers I read. Loved it so much that it prompted me to by a few more (thank you, Waterstones sale Big Grin) Next I tried was The Plain Truth and it took me a while to get started on. I'm glad to have discovered her, I normally go for horror/thriller/fantasy or humour so it makes a nice change.
